Everyday faith events return for July

Calling all parishes in the deaneries of Birkenhead, Wallasey, Wirral North, Chadkirk, Stockport and Mottram. You are invited to register your parish for an event to learn more about how the local church can encourage people to live out their faith in everyday life.

Attendees at previous deanery meetings said they found the evenings to be helpful, informative, and... fun :)

How churches celebrated the Jubilee


It's estimated that over 1000 churches celebrated the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. In our diocese, churches were at the heart of the community celebrations through song, dance, and cake. We feature just a few here

Warden of Pastoral Workers and Readers retires


The Revd Canon Vivien Gisby is soon to retire from her dual role as Warden of Pastoral Workers and Warden of Readers, positions that she has held for ten years and five years respectively. 

Remembering the Falklands War


Some churches around the country and parts of the Diocese of Chester will lead services to remember the Falklands War later this month. The 40th anniversary of the end of the conflict falls on the 20th June.

The Journey: Diocese Youth Weekend Away: Friday 8 – Sunday 10 July

 
The Diocese of Chester is pleased to announce: ‘The Journey’, our new Weekend Youth Residential at Foxhill House and Woodlands. The Journey is specifically designed for young people in school years 7-12 and costs just £50 per person to attend. It’s a time for young people to gather with others who share similar beliefs and outlooks on life. The theme this year is 'Hope'. It’s the perfect place for young people to build stronger relationships and spend time with their youth group and leaders. Young people attending, must be accompanied by leaders from their church. Places are limited, and must be booked via Hannah Jones. hannah.jones@chester.anglican.org

Retirement Preparation Conference, 27 – 29 September 2022


Organised by Scargill House, this is for clergy preparing for retirement. There are also places for clergy spouses. The aim of the conference is to provide information about the transition to retirement covering the very practical matters of health, housing, pension, tax and so on. There is also the opportunity to look at ways of developing a positive approach to retirement from full-time ministry and what vocation can mean in this context. Conference costs will be borne by the diocese. Please contact Jane Hood for a booking form.

Archdeacons' Visitation News


The annual Archdeacons' Visitation News is now available. Archdeacons, Mike and Ian are looking forward to welcoming all Churchwardens to a Visitation Service during the month of June. You can find all of the service details here. Churchwardens may also like to know about the 'Churchwardens England' Facebook group. Specifically set up for Church of England churchwardens, it has now grown to a community of 1300 members.

Funding for security measurers at your church


The Home Office have launched a Places of Worship (POW): Protective Security Funding Scheme to enhance their security. The funding is specifically for places of worship vulnerable to hate crime and is there to fund protective security measures, such as CCTV, secure fencing, and intruder alarms. Applications should be submitted before 14 July.

Fundraising for capital repairs


Ecclesiastical will be hosting a webinar on 16 June from 2-3.30pm on fundraising for church capital projects to help churches navigate through the process of fundraising for capital projects. It will cover planning the project, engaging with and identifying community need, finding donors and writing the case for support. Registrations are now open
