“If 2020 and 2021 were years of resilience, the 2022 edition of Terra Madre Salone del Gusto will be one of regeneration, of radical renewal and real agroecological transitions that – Slow Food believes – can and must begin with food: by improving our agricultural practices, our systems of production and distribution, our diets and consumption and habits, from the largest cities to the smallest villages.”

After these past years of particular crisis in the food systems and in our communities, it’s finally the moment where we can gather again as a global movement dedicated to Good Clean and Fair Food for All: Terra Madre Salone del Gusto is back in person this fall, September 22nd to 26th, in Turin, Italy.

Terra Madre Salone del Gusto is Slow Food‘s largest international event, happening biennially in partnership with the City of Turin and the Piedmont Region. Delegates from the Slow Food movement all around the world - producers and policy makers, entrepreneurs and eaters alike - all gather to learn, share best practices and hatch plans for a better, cleaner and more fair food system. Learn more about the event and this year’s theme of REGENERATION here.

And YOU (yes you!) can attend. As an independent visitor for certain. But also as a delegate, representing Slow Food and the East Bay food community in particular.  Get access to exclusive panels, roundtables and networking spaces at the event, an invitation to participate in the Slow Food USA National Meeting plus logistical support; and extra networking opportunities before, during and after the event.

There are two types of delegates:

Sponsored Delegates: Slow Food International is offering a limited number of scholarships to folks in the food system (from farm production to policy activists!) that will cover room and board for your time in Turin.

Community Delegates: If you have the ability to pay your own way, consider applying to represent The East Bay food community and your particular interests and passion. You will be required to find your own housing and pay for your meals.

APPLY TO BE A DELEGATE HERE BY JUNE 10TH!

Interested but not a financial possibility for you?

Slow Food East Bay is offering to pay the way for someone (or maybe someones!) to attend, contributing to the cost of flights and (if not a sponsored delegate) housing and meals. We ask that you apply first to be sponsored delegates through the Slow Food organization since we have a limited budget, and will conduct a separate selection process if multiple delegates are chosen from the Slow Food East Bay chapter.

If you do receive sponsorship from Slow Food East Bay, you will be our ears and eyes on the ground while in Turin and share your experience while there and when you come back!  In return for our financial support, we ask that you speak with the Slow Food East Bay chapter leadership team and volunteers at a small private gathering and also headline a larger event open to the public later in the fall.
