A Letter from Jeanne Ruddy, Executive Director, Artistic Director, and Co-Founder
Hello Friends,
I’m thrilled to feel the energy that fills the studios of the Performance Garage since our re-opening in January. During the day we have students from 4 - 13 matriculating in the Creative Expression Dance Camp and sometimes their classes spill out to our sidewalks! And in the evenings and Sundays, we are graced with the Ballet instruction of Alexei Borovik and Alexei Charov. Also, there are Egyptian classes with Habiba, Aerial classes, and company rehearsals with Kulu Mele and Project Moshen. That’s an incredible range of dance forms and disciplines!

Our ’21- ‘22 DanceVisions Resident Artists, yaTande Whitney V. Hunter and Jude Sandy, are in their creation period and will premiere their new work, Walk The (pink) Elephant on Thursday, September 15th through the 17th. Surely that’s something you don’t want to miss. They will conduct a HubChat on August 24th at 6 pm where yaTande and Jude will share their creative inspiration for the work as well as their process in its creation. Come get the inside scoop on their new work and meet them in person. They will also have an Open Rehearsal on Sept. 7 at 6 pm for those of you who like to be a fly on the wall as the work is developed in real time.
And we also want to heartily welcome Molly Dougherty, as our new Development Director, and Norma Porter, as our new Program and Marketing Manager. Both come to us with many years of experience in the non-profit and cultural sphere of Philadelphia and we look forward to their contributions to the benefit of all of you. We look forward to seeing you at our events, classes, or performances. For more information go to www.performancegarage.org
All my best,
