Upcoming Trainings

This month's Community QPR Training will be held virtually on Wednesday, June 15th from 5:30pm-7:00pm

If you have any questions about scheduling a QPR training, please contact us at admin@suicideprevent.org

Join us on Friday, July 1st at 4:00pm for an in-person QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Training at Feisty Spirts Distillery in Fort Collins.

QPR is a practical and empowering course that teaches what you need to know to prevent suicide in your personal and professional life. This training is 60-90 minutes. In QPR you will learn:

  • how to ask someone if they are considering suicide
  • how to connect someone to appropriate resources
  • how to get help for yourself
  • the common causes of suicidal behavior or emotional distress
  • the warning signs and risk factors for suicide
  • the myths and facts of suicide

Just like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives. Once attended, participants receive a 2 year certification that holds the same weight as a CPR certification and offers 1 CEU.

We invite you to stay after the training to enjoy amazing local spirts and connect with ASP staff!

This training is limited to 20 participants. If you are unable to reserve a spot for the training, please stop by after 5:30pm to learn more about what we do at ASP, get connected to resources, and answer any questions you may have! If you are interested in getting trained in QPR, please visit our website (www.suicideprevent.org) or contact us at admin@suicideprevent.org for more information!

We are looking forward to seeing you there!

What is happening in our community

One in five Americans, along with millions of children, are prescribed psychiatric drugs daily, and often for a lifetime. MEDICATING NORMAL follows the stories of five high-functioning people whose doctors prescribed pills to help with common problems such as stress, mild depression, insomnia and grief with devastating impact on their lives. This is the untold story of the serious consequences that can occur when profit-driven medicine intersects with human beings in distress.

This event is hosted by Yarrow Collective: Peers of Larimer. Following the film, please stay for an important panel discussion with Angela Peacock, a veteran featured in the film, and a local veteran and social work professor who will share their stories and take questions from the audience. Donations are appreciated and go to supporting the work of the Yarrow Collective.

This film will be shown at The Lyric on Saturday, June 4th at 3pm
(Reserve a free ticket here).
