IMPORTANT: Downtown SLO Parking Perception Survey

Have your voice heard!

We have recently learned about parking meter and structure rate increases coming to the Parking Program from the City of SLO. These changes will be discussed and voted on at City Council on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.

Changes Include:
  • First hour free in the parking structures goes away on July 1, 2022 (A year ago, Council already approved this option, but the Downtown SLO Parking & Access committee advocated on the behalf of businesses to defer for a full year while the city recovered from the pandemic).
  • Parking rates to increase (metered street parking AND parking structures) July 1, 2023.
  • Max daily rates in parking structures to increase (will go from $6 to $12) July 1, 2023.
The proposed rate increases are to secure financing for construction of the Cultural Arts Parking Structure. Downtown SLO has long been in support of the construction of the Cultural Arts Parking Structure to be erected at Palm/Nipomo streets. But due to skyrocketing construction costs, the City now needs to raise additional revenue to secure funding to begin the project.

We are inviting downtown business owners like yourself to share your experiences parking downtown, so we may better advocate to Council on your behalf. Please take 5 minutes to provide your anonymous feedback.
