Letter from the President

Hello dearest RPCV members,

As my time to pass on the President's role to another amazing board member is upon me, I'd love to share some final reflections. I had my reservations for taking on this role due to time constraints and the pandemic which meant navigating our SDPCA community in a way we have never had to do before. But I've been so pleasantly surprised by how flexible and patient our membership has been through the fluctuations of virtual and in-person events. As we started having in-person events again, I realized how much I missed those story swaps and PC energy you get only from hanging out with other RPCVs. Based on the success of our Taste the World event, I see that our membership has truly stuck with us and are here for the long run. What a wonderful feeling! Thank you to each and every one of you for your ongoing support and involvement in our community, no matter what the world throws at us!

I'd like to spend just a moment to thank our board members as well. There's so much that goes on behind the scenes to have the number of events that we do. They work tirelessly to keep events happening and running smoothly all year long. Your board members are creative, organized, professional, and bring joy and fun to the job. Round of applause to your board members!

It’s my hope that in sharing little bits of my Peace Corps experience with you all during my time as President, that I've made more connections with you. That's what our community is all about and what I pick up from every event that I attend. I look forward to staying on the board in a different capacity and plan on staying active and involved. Please continue sharing your stories and experiences with me and all our members! It's my favorite part of being a member in this organization.

We have our planning meeting very soon and will have a year's worth of events and good times to share with you. We'll also have a new board to introduce you to with some old and new members. Stay tuned for all the details to come!

With peace, love, and respect,

Tina Silva
