From making a splash at the waterfronts, free festivals, outdoor concerts and movies, a cultural scene that can't be beat, and gallery exhibits galore, DC is full of amazing and unexpected fun this month. ​It’s going to be epic!

Lights! Camera! Outdoor summer movies. Alfresco movie screenings are popping up in neighborhoods across DC. Whether you're looking for date night options, recent blockbusters or family favorites, there's an outdoor film series at a drive-in or at a park that's sure to fit the bill. Even better, most screenings are free! So mark your calendars, and get your popcorn, blankets, favorite snacks, and bug spray (trust us on this) ready before showtime!

Pride celebrations are BACK and better than ever in DC.It's time to celebrate LGBTQIA+ pride like you’ve been waiting two years for this moment 🏳️‍🌈 The entire month is packed with events celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community, including lots of opportunities to learn about LQBTQIA+ history and activists. So grab your pride flag, embrace unity, and check out some of the best ways to celebrate Pride Month this year!

CURIOUS PICK: HIDDEN GEM

Back to the future. The 19th century meets the modern age in artist Elena Volkova’s photography exhibit, Anacostia Portraits, on display now at Honfleur Gallery (1241 Good Hope Road, SE) in Anacostia. The exhibit is a participatory community arts project that uses a historic photographic process to celebrate the Anacostia people in this place and time, while encouraging a dialogue between past and present. And simply put the portraits are strikingly beautiful. Head east of the river to see the exhibit before it closes on June 18.
