Dear Saskatchewan Aviation Museum Supporter
"Into the Mist"
On Saturday June 11, 2022, the Saskatchewan Aviation Museum will present “Into the Mist,” a dynamic event commemorating a decades-long mystery unique to Saskatchewan history. This event will unveil the exhibit “CF-JDO: A Canadian Mystery,” an exhibit years in the making. Indigenous Artist Roger Jerome provided the beautiful backdrop for the exhibit. This event will also serve as a preview for Victoria Hetherington’s nonfiction account of the story, Into The Mist: Finding CF-JDO. Her book will launch at the museum in August.
Guests may enjoy tours of the museum, which features numerous historic aircraft that served Canada in both war and peacetime, along with hundreds of objects and historical texts that provide fascinating context. In its preservation and presentation of the rich history of aviation in Saskatchewan, the Saskatchewan Aviation Museum is second to none.
Schedule
From 11AM –1PM, a keynote panel of historians, pilots, and conservation leaders will bring the history of this story alive for guests. Panelists will include diver Mike Fletcher (star of "Dive Detectives" and "The Sea Hunters" of National Geographic fame, who was integral in raising the plane in 2019), author, pilot and historian Doug Chisholm, and Dorrin Wallace, Saskatchewan Aviation Museum founder. Guests may participate in a Q&A afterwards with the panel and family members of the Gran and Thompson families, and may then enjoy a classic museum burger lunch.

About the Exhibit:
People from all walks of life came together and contributed generously to this exhibit. Three years in the making by a range of volunteers from commercial pilots to carpenters to aircraft mechanics, the JDO exhibit is a fitting tribute to a crucial piece of Saskatchewan Aviation History. The exhibit features a replica of the SGA Cessna 180 flown by Raymond, with its unique Saskatchewan Government airways paint. This exhibit honors Saskatchewan aviation heroes like Ray Gran and Harold Thompson, who have served the province in war and peacetime.
