Mark your Calendars for the Amazing Geo-Challenge on the Kenai 2023!
Our Amazing Geo-Challenge Fundraiser is always a big highlight of the year and the 2021 race was undoubtedly fantastic! It was full of business and family teams representing their science, technology, engineering, and math skills while running around the Peninsula to wherever the hidden coordinates pointed them.
Well, don't worry if you missed it because you can look forward to another Amazing Geo-Challenge Fundraiser in the fall of 2023!
It takes time to coordinate such an elaborate game for you all to enjoy and we appreciate the support to keep our Educational Programs and this fundraiser going, so we wouldn't want to disappoint! Contact colette.gilmour@akchallenger.org if your business would like to be a part of Challenger's Bi-Annual Geo-Challenge as a sponsor, or you can look forward to signing your employees up as a team!

Food Security and Sustainability
Challenger Learning Centers and NASA have always incorporated food security into their studies and educational programs. Crop selection, soils, and nutrients are a part of exploring our own planet, let alone trying to visit and live on other planets or going into deep space. Challenger Learning Center of Alaska secured multiple grants to run a three-part Food Security and sustainability series for free. The first community workshop was on May 7th, presenting local experts, Lora Hagelund, Mike Arnold, Rusty Swan, Janice Chumley, and NASA's Dr. Carl Lewis, demonstrating the science of growing, seed saving, worm beds, soils, composting, harvesting, and preserving food, as well as supplies to bring home to make a self-watering grow bucket.

The second workshop is "Wild Harvest: I can eat that?", scheduled for August. Speakers will cover an array of harvesting topics pertaining to plants, fish, and game, what to look for, how to harvest, rules, and uses. The workshop will again be free with lunch provided. Keep in touch for further information coming.
