ON THE BIT - FRIDAY 3rd JUNE 2022
GLOBE DERBY PARK - SATURDAY 4TH JUNE 2022
Race 1: Paceway Restaurant Dining at Globe Derby Pace
JAKES SPORTWRITER (6) has won his last two starts well. He defeated CANADA BAY by 9 metres and will be hard to beat again tonight.
JUST CAPPY (7) should run a lot better against this field.
STEAM CLEANED (5) and CLARENDEN ENVOY (1) are also chances.

Race 2: Vale Keith Joy Pace
FIREBALL (3) ran very impressively behind RUPERT ROSS in a recent Globe Derby trial. If he can repeat that run against this field he is going to be a major chance.
OUR MAJOR JACK (1), TWIN CONNECTION (4) and MONSIEUR STEEL (8) are also chances.

Race 3: Biggest Morning Tea at 'The Globe' June 21 Pace
GLEN ELGIN TOMSON (6) has his first start in Australia for Aaron Bain. His recent trial performance was solid enough to suggest he is going to be competitive against this field. His trial and his stable must be respected.
MAMMA KASS (5), EL AWOMAN (7) and ROCK TO SUCCESS (3) are also chances.

Race 4: Hygain Entires & Geldings Pace
ROCKING WITH CHARM (6) got run down by DOUBLE O HEAVEN last week after leading and overracing a little. If he can lob into a forward position early tonight he will be a major chance.
BIEN HOA (1) will appreciate the inside draw and looks like a danger against this field.
CELESTIAL DAYBREAK (3) and ABSOLUTION (4) are also chances.

Race 5: Clay & Mineral Trotters Mobile
GREAT FANTASY (3) was very impressive last start when he defeated MAKE MINE MUSCLE by 2.9 metres. A repeat of that run will give him a major chance tonight.
PETITE LOVE (6) was a last start winner at Warragul and poses a threat against this field.
EURYPHAESSA (5) and PIESRIDINGSHOTGUN (8) are also chances.

Race 6: TAB Long May We Play Mares Pace
BELLA SOFIA (1) led from gate one two starts back but was up against DANCING FINN and ATREACHEROUS. She should be able to find the lead tonight and if she can produce her best run, will be hard to catch.
ACES DAUGHTER (5), AMMICCHI (7) and EASY ROLLING (6) are also chances.

Race 7: TAB Long May We Play Mares Pace
DELIGHTFUL GNP (3) ran a massive race last start when she finished second behind ROSIANO. If she can repeat that run she is going to be a major chance against this field.
ROCKNROLL YANKEE (5) has won his last three starts. He is a big chance tonight.
STEINMAN (1) and TOLD YOU TWICE (2) are also chances.

Race 8: Bagnato Horse Transport Trotters Handicap
ENROLLED (5) was a winner two starts back defeating REDRIVERDEBBA and ran second last start behind REGAL ASSASSIN. He is worth consideration tonight.

Notice to South Australian Trainers – Arsenic
HRSA reminds Trainers that the presence of arsenic in a race day equine urine sample at above a level of 0.30 micrograms per millilitre is substance prohibited under Rule HR. 188A(2)(b).
Trainers are reminded under Australian Harness Racing Rule HR. 190(4) that an offence is committed if a horse is presented with a prohibited substance in its system, regardless of the circumstances in which the prohibited substance came to be present in the horse.
Products that contain arsenic include but are not limited to Ferrocyl, Jurocyl, and Invigorate injections. It is claimed the use of these injectable preparations on horses may improve appetite, the appearance of the coat, and may aid in the treatment of anaemia or general weakness. However, there is no rational evidence-based indication for the use of arsenic in horses.
Veterinary advice is that substances containing arsenic are not routinely used nor recommended as treatment for any condition in horses.
During investigations into current arsenic irregularities reported by Racing Analytical Services Limited (RASL), the University of Melbourne conducted a trial to research the levels of arsenic in horses that had ingested a known amount of CCA (chromated copper arsenate) treated timber sawdust. This research resulted in the detection of urinary concentrations of arsenic in some of the horses that exceeded the threshold concentration.
Therefore, it may be possible that a horse could have a urinary level of arsenic that exceeds the threshold concentration if it chews or ingests a sufficiently large quantity of CCA treated timber. With this aspect of the research completed, Trainers are given notice that an explanation of environmental contamination (through CCA timber or other means) might not necessarily be considered a significant penalty mitigating factor for anyone found to have presented a horse with urinary concentrations above the arsenic threshold in the future.
Trainers are therefore advised to take measures to ensure that racing horses do not have access to environmental sources of arsenic including treated timber products prior to racing.
Considering Controlling Bodies first notified Trainers of the potential for Arsenic to be detected in samples as a consequence of CCA treated timber in 2016, HRSA Stewards have reviewed the approach taken with samples in which Arsenic is detected. Where a Trainer might seek to rely upon the presence of CCA treated timber as a mitigating aspect in penalty, Stewards provide notice that such mitigation might not be applied if the Trainer cannot demonstrate that he had taken adequate measures to prevent such occurrence.

Supplementary report:
HRSA Stewards have been informed that preliminary testing of the pre-race blood sample taken from MUSCLETONIAN prior to Race 2 – Saturday 21st May 2022  has reported a level of TCO2 in plasma greater than 35.00ml/L (not adjusted).  As the level reported exceeds the limit prescribed by the HRSA Elevated TCO2 Policy, Trainer F Pullicino has been informed that in accord with the Policy MUSCLETONIAN would be required to be presented four hours prior to the scheduled start time for each of its next four starts.
Stewards noted that the level reported also exceeded the level reported from a sample taken recently during an unannounced stable visit.
GENERAL
Licenced Trainer Wayne Gowley was advised that Stewards would expect him to in future conduct himself in an appropriate manner when issued a directive from an Official.
