Welcome to the Arch Street Meeting House Newsletter for July 2022!

For First Friday, Arch Street Meeting House will be doing an outdoor screening of the 1996 classic film Independence Day (Rated PG-13) from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm! For a suggested donation of $5, grab a picnic blanket, snacks, and BYOB for a special 4th of July weekend movie night in Old City.
 

Registration is required and includes admission to the museum prior to the screening. Lawn seating is first-come, first serve.
 

Join us at Arch Street Meeting House as we partner with the National Constitution Center for their Finding the Founders scholarly series. Learn more about Samuel Nicholas through a firsthand perspective, meeting the man himself as he discusses his military experiences and remarkable life. Samuel Nicholas portrayed by Doug Thomas.

Registration is not required.

Celebrate the 4th of July weekend with Arch Street Meeting House! On Saturday, July 2nd, visitors can participate in our brand new walking tour of Quaker sites in Old City, Philadelphia, and a hands-on Quaker history workshop facilitated by an ASMH staff member.

The tour begins with a brief exploration of the historic burial grounds at ASMH before continuing on a walking tour of important Quaker sites throughout the neighborhood. This is not just your run-of-the-mill famous Founding Fathers' tour! It is perfect for visitors who are seeking a different side of Philadelphia history.
 

Quakers & quilts have a deep-rooted history that we will explore through different mediums: paper designs, coloring pages, hand-sewing, and machine-sewing. Throughout the afternoon the East Room will be a-buzz, so come practice your sewing skills with Arch Street Meeting House staff and volunteers.
 

Sean Connolly, Executive Director of the Arch Street Meeting House Preservation Trust (ASMHPT) is excited to announce that Arch Street Meeting House has been awarded a $25,000.00 Keystone Planning grant by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) to prepare designs and engineering for a fire suppression system for the meetinghouse. ASMHPT is excited to begin work on this project which will help preserve and protect this National Historic Landmark for generations of Quakers and tourists to come.

More news and funding opportunities to support the construction of the fire suppression system will be available soon.
