AOCS Regional Coordinators Creative Collaboration

CALLING ALL OUR REGIONAL COORDINATORS AND POTENTIAL ONES

The Regional Coordinators met on 22nd June with Joanne Searle, the South African RC and Global Coordination Lead. The plan is to continue to offer meetings at different times on different days to accommodate the different time zones and member diaries.

We had a very engaging conversation with lots of learning from our different geographies and ideas for our roles and regions, and left the meeting feeling upbeat and energised. We discussed sharing supervision experience events with each other in our regions to create opportunities for supervisors to offer a supervision experience.

In June, COMENSA (Coaches and Mentors of South Africa) invited AOCS Regional Coordinators to such an event on 23rd June and we had our first shared event, which was an enjoyable success.

Next meetings are 22nd July from 14h00-15h00 BST and 1st September at 12h00-13h00 BST Dateful Timezone Converter.

We would like to encourage as many of you that can to please attend these meetings. The focus of the sessions continues to give us an opportunity to get to know each other, build on previous discussions, and offer volunteer coordinators a further opportunity to clarify and evolve their roles with AoCS and to share their thoughts and experiences on how they are ‘promoting, engaging and developing’ supervision in their geographies. We look forward to connecting again and ‘joining hands’ in this capacity. Contact Joanne to register your attendance.

COMMUNITY CONVERSATION - SUPERVISION OF INTERNAL COACHING PROGRAMMES

We asked you to hold the 20th July 2022, 13h00-15h00 (BST) for us to discuss internal coaching programmes with an emphasis on supervision elements.
Due to circumstances outside of our control, this date is now moving to 8th September 2022 12h00-13h00 (BST) Dateful Timezone Converter. More information on this exciting facilitated session will follow in our next News Update.

UPDATE ON THE JOINT GLOBAL STATEMENT GROUP ON CLIMATE.

Lorenza Clifford stood in for Jackie Arnold on 13th July, when the JGSG on Climate met to discuss our next Round Tables Series for all our members, which will be on a sequence of themes, with the signatory bodies partnering to facilitate the sessions. These will take different shapes, some to encourage, some to inform, some to work with experiences we have already had of coaching around climate issues. Jackie and Lorenza will be working with colleagues from another Professional Body, picking a very interesting theme for Supervisors. We already have some exciting ideas about how to bring this event alive so that we work with what matters in our practice. We will invite you closer to the time to collaborate in these sessions to enable us all to engage with the responsibilities from the Joint Global Statement. If Climate is a theme you work with already and you would like to volunteer some time on, we would be interested to hear from you.

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION REFLECTIVE CIRCLE
Join our next circle on
Wednesday 27 July 2022 at 7pm SGT Dateful Timezone Converter

In our last reflection circle, we had voices from the UK, USA, South Africa and Singapore in the room. We are noticing a promising micro trend that there is a movement from "blame and shame" to raising self-awareness and “what can I do about this?”. Away from the initial flurry of media hype on D&I, we now have a quieter space to reflect on how do we show up with more courage to find our voice and have the wisdom to know hold our responsibility on D&I with lightness to provide space for perspectives. Acknowledging one’s privileges and oriented to act, for example, “What can White people do next?” in our profession, needs to be accompanied by effort from our minority voices, to find courage to be seen. In my humble reflection, whilst it is not possible to make all equal, it is quite possible to practise inclusion and honour diversity by slowing down and relating to each other as human beings with compassion and kindness. Every interaction counts. Where can we start again?

We will move D&I Reflective Circle to the last Wednesday (once every 2 months). Thank you to AoCS who are moving the needle for us to grow towards a more inclusive association across the globe.
Our next reflective circle will be on Wednesday 27 July at 7pm SGT Dateful Timezone Converter. Please join us.

Picturing Coach Supervision
An Illustrated Guide to Common Issues and Challenges

Through 50 engaging illustrations, Picturing Coaching Supervision helps lift the lid on supervision. Coaches can quickly get to understand some of the key themes that may be explored in coaching, whilst supervisors can use the book as a handy resource to share with potential supervisees, and even as a gentle reminder for topics they may be missing.

Produced by Nick Bolton, the founder of Animas Centre for Coaching, this is a free resource for anyone who wants to get a thought provoking but easy-to-absorb glimpse into the world of coaching supervision. AoCS members can find the book in the Free Resource section of our website or click here.

Research Opportunities

Talking of research, we have an updated place for promoting research, into coaching and coaching supervision or subjects relevant to our profession, so if you are currently doing relevant research or know members who are, please let them know that they can promote it, with us in return for sharing a summary of outcomes.

To launch this updated page, we have our member Sile Walsh's research into Inclusive Leadership.
