June Chapter Meeting

As a reminder, our June chapter meeting will be on Monday, June 27, at 7 PM via Zoom. Our speaker will be Margie Hunter, who will speak on

Beyond Aesthetics:

“Garden As If Life Depends On It”

As usual, the Zoom meeting will open at 6:30 PM with the program beginning at 7 PM. Full details, including the Zoom link and a shareable flyer are available on our Event page. Please note that the Zoom link changed two weeks ago, so if you copied the link into  your calendar before that, for example, you will need to update it. The link on the chapter event page and calendar are both up-to-date.

Gardening at Westmeade Elementary School

One of the chapter's very successful ongoing projects is to help maintain the native gardens at Westmeade Elementary School in Nashville. Our Summer hours for this activity are usually 9 AM to 11 AM on Sundays. If you would like to assist with this effort, please send an email with your contact information and we will add you to the email list for this activity. Volunteering does not require that you show up every Sunday -- just whenever you can. We hope to have an open house there soon.

National Announcements

Members should have received a national newsletter earlier this week. Please note:
  • The annual photo contest runs July 1 through August 31. Please see the details on the national  website.
  • Applications for the Seeds for Education grants will be accepted July 15 through October 15. Details are available here

Happy Pollinator Week

We hope everyone's Pollinator Week is going well and that there are lots of pollinators nearby for everyone to enjoy. Visit the Pollinator Partnership website for information.

More Couchville Cedar Glade Hikes

Our chapter had a great hike at Couchville Cedar Glade two weeks ago. Our thanks go to Ranger Rawlings for leading that hike. If you missed that hike, or if you want to re-visit that amazing State Natural Area, there are a couple of opportunities this weekend.
  • Ranger Leslie Anne Rawlings will lead a hike Friday evening, June 24, at 7 PM. Details and registration are here.
  • Holly Taylor, the Assistant State Naturalist, will lead a hike Saturday morning, June 25, at 9:30 AM. Details and registration are here.
Registration for both hikes is required.
Thank you for being on our email list. We really appreciate your interest in keeping up with our chapter's activities. If you are not already a member, please consider joining our 141 members of the Wild Ones Middle Tennessee chapter along with the over 7,000 national members to demonstrate your support for using native plants and employing sustainable landscaping practices to support biodiversity.
