City of Falls Church Named Second Healthiest Community in the Nation by U.S. News & World Report

Thursday, June 23, 2022 -- The City of Falls Church has been recognized as the second healthiest community in the country by U.S. News & World Report.

"The City is proud to once again be recognized as one of the healthiest communities in the nation," said Mayor P. David Tarter. "We strive to improve the health, fitness and quality of life of our residents through a walkable, bikeable city with excellent recreational facilities, a popular Farmers Market, and world class schools. We send our congratulations, and sodas, chips and other junk food to Los Alamos, this year’s winner.”

The City earned an overall score of 98, and is the only community to receive a score of 100 in both education and population health. Read more about the City's rankings here.

The City has consistently ranked in the top three on the annual report, earning the No. 1 community honor for the inaugural report in 2018 and No. 3 for the past three years.

According to U.S. News & World Report, "For 2022, the Healthiest Communities analysis assessed nearly 3,000 counties and county equivalents across 89 metrics in 10 categories that shape and show a community's health and well-being, ranging from the economy and public safety to infrastructure, food and nutrition, and community vitality."
