RE-thinking WA by Reducing, Recovering and Remanufacturing

The 2022 Waste & Recycle Conference, hosted by the Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia (WMRR), Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER), and Western Australian Local Government Association (WALGA), will be held at Crown Towers Perth on 14 and 15 September, with tours on 13 September.
CALL FOR ABSTRACTS EXTENDED

The call for abstracts has been extended until Friday, 1 July.

Through the online portal you can submit an abstract for one of the five (5) Conference streams:
  • Infrastructure and Strategy
  • Behaviour Change and Community Engagement/Empowerment
  • Climate Contribution and Action
  • Onshore Markets and Sustainable Procurement
  • Circular Economy
The Program Committee welcomes papers on all materials (e.g. construction and demolition, FOGO, e-waste etc.) and management types (i.e. the full waste hierarchy). All abstract submissions will be presented to the Program Committee for review and final selection.

Submit your abstract here by 5:00pm (AWST) on the closing date.

All confirmed speakers will be offered a discounted registration rate.
PERFECT PITCH

Do you have the Perfect Pitch? The Waste & Recycle Conference is proud to once again present the Perfect Pitch, where Waste Management ‘Sharks’ will each have $1,000 incl. GST to invest in your potential enterprise. All you need to do is convince them that your idea is the next big waste or recycling solution!

If you are an entrepreneur in the waste and resource recovery sector, and would like to be considered for the Perfect Pitch, fill in the submission form and outline your business ideas and progress to date.

Make sure to submit your Perfect Pitch by 5:00pm (AWST) on Friday, 1 July.

SPEAKER ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Conference Organising Committee is pleased to announce Dr Karl Kruszelnicki as a keynote speaker and Professor Peter Newman AO as an invited speaker at the 2022 Conference.

Dr Karl Kruszelnicki (left) is the man with the answers when it comes to Science and Technology. The Julius Sumner Miller Fellow at Sydney University, Dr Karl spreads the word about science and its benefits. With weekly radio shows, regular television appearances, magazine articles, podcasts, and 47 (so far) published books, Dr Karl is constantly in demand by the media and for corporate appearances. Professor Peter Newman AO (right) is the Professor of Sustainability at Curtin University. Peter has written 23 books and over 370 papers on sustainable cities and decarbonisation policy. He has worked to deliver his ideas in all levels of government, having been an elected councillor, seconded to advise three Premiers and on the Board of Infrastructure Australia from 2008-14. He is the co-ordinating lead author for Transport on the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).

The Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Program was established to provide Western Australians with a safe, and free, disposal option for unwanted household products that contain chemicals or substances that can be harmful to people or the environment. Find out more here.
