Residential Infill Project - Part 2 (RIP2)

City Council has passed Part 2 of the Residential Infill Project which will bring more density and different types of housing options to Portland neighborhoods.

The changes to the zoning code went into effect on July 1, the date that the state legislature set for compliance with the requirement that all large cities in Oregon open single dwelling zones to duplexes. The city has gone beyond that requirement to allow tri-, four-, and six-plexes, townhomes and cottage clusters depending upon lot size.

Crayfish Monitoring

Tryon Creek Watershed Council is working with Kyla Schmitt (UO Clark Honors College ’25) to collect data on crayfish populations and habitats in the Tryon Creek watershed. The objective of this study is to identify whether invasive crayfish pose a threat to the Tryon Creek watershed and to further contribute to the limited body of literature on the behavior, health, and habitat preferences of signal crayfish in the region.
