The ICOYC is many things to many people. We serve as a networking platform for yacht club enthusiasts around the world, a best-practices resource library for Members in leadership positions and a mechanism for education and connection for professional club staff. This month we are excited to celebrate the appointment of three new professional leaders to ICOYC Clubs. 
Andy Fethers Appointed New CEO of RFBYC

Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club
has announced the appointment of experienced yachtsman and sailing administrator Andy Fethers to the position of CEO. Andy joins the Club with a strong background in regatta management, sailing development and racing, with two world titles and four campaigns in the America’s Cup.
Karen Baldwin Named New CEO of Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron

Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron
is delighted to welcome Karen Baldwin as their new Chief Executive Officer. Karen is an experienced yacht club manager who most recently was the CEO at Fremantle Sailing Club, and whose commitment to customer service, membership and member satisfaction will be a great benefit to RQYS.
 
Jared Chorney Appointed New General Manager at Eastern Yacht Club

For the first time in more than 20 years, the Eastern Yacht Club has a new General Manager. Jared Chorney has had an extensive career in hospitality, food & beverage, and private clubs, and brings a wealth of experience to EYC.
 
ICOYC Celebrates the Contributions of Bob Miller

On May 16, Chuck Lowry presented an engraved crystal ship’s decanter to Bob Miller for his 17-year contribution in managing ICOYC communications systems.
 

Interest Survey for 2023 ICOYC International Cruise

The Annapolis Yacht Club is planning a Chesapeake Bay Cruise for ICOYC in the Fall of 2023 and we are hoping to get a great turnout post-pandemic. The dates are Friday, September 29 to Friday, October 6, 2023. In order to gauge attendance and interest in the itinerary and activities, we are requesting that ICOYC members complete the following survey. Your quickest feedback will be helpful and greatly appreciated.

KSSS Welcomes Refugee Family from Ukraine

Royal Swedish Yacht Club
, with support from their Members, staff, local businesses and shops, have provided lodging to a Ukrainian family of five who fled their war-torn home in Charkiv.
Women’s Group Boating Skills Weekend

Seattle Yacht Club
held its fourth annual Women’s Boating Skills Weekend in April. This event was open to nonmembers, and the camaraderie between the community and SYC members was astounding as participants enjoyed boating seminars and skill-learning sessions.
ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 Masters Worlds Coming to Thailand in 2023

Royal Varuna Yacht Club is gearing up to host the ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 Masters Worlds in just 8 months. In preparation for the events, Masters sailors from RVYC have organized monthly training clinics for all interested Masters ILCA sailors.
RFBYC Reports Strong Membership Growth

Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club
has experienced strong growth in Membership in the last two years as people stayed closer to home. Of note, RFBYC saw the greatest increases in Membership among women, under 16, over 26, and Associate groups in 2021.

RACE NEWS
Results from the 2022 Seawanhaka Cup

Long Beach Yacht Club was proud to welcome eight Clubs to compete at the Seawanhaka Cup which took place May 31-June 5, including six ICOYC Member Clubs. Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club took the overall win, with strong competition from second place Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.
 
Fancy Dress and Fun Racing at Hong Kong’s Nations’ Cup

Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club hosted the 2022 Nations’ Cup, which saw sailors dressing up in fun costumes and decorating the 59 participating boats representing 19 nations. Scotland took top honors, crediting the unseasonably cold weather as “perfect weather for the Scottish!”
 
Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Trophy – July 2-10, 2022

The 3rd Mirpuri Foundation Sailing Trophy, an event hosted by Clube Naval de Cascais that focuses on sustainability and working toward a better world, will take place July 2-10 in Cascais, Portugal. Registration is now open HERE.
