* These town halls are exclusively available for GFMD general and affiliate members. The orientation meeting is also open to new members of staff from existing GFMD members. If you work for/represent a GFMD member and are curious to know more about GFMD and our community, please feel free to join us.

🇰🇪 Africa Women Journalism Project equips women in African media with the knowledge, skills and support network they need to drive journalism that sheds a light on gender, health and development issues affecting women and other marginalised groups.

🇲🇽 Border Center for Journalists and Bloggers helps journalists and citizen reporters launch new digital media, news organizations, associations, journalism schools, and new products such as digital maps, data visualizations, and data mining tools. 

🇰🇪 Centre For Media And Information Literacy aims to spearhead media and information literacy and promoting good governance through civic engagement. 

🇿🇦 Code for Africa (CfA) is a civic technology/open data-driven digital democracy & digital journalism initiative, they also manage the African Network of Centres for Investigative Reporting

🇨🇴 Connectas promotes the production, exchange, training, and dissemination of information on key issues for the development in South America.

🇹🇷 Digital Media Research Association publishes technical reports and research on different problems and developments in the journalism industry, along with research and consultancy services to non-governmental organisations and commercial organisations in the field of media and communication.

🇪🇸 Fundación Maldita.es contra la desinformación is a non-profit foundation and media outlet focused on fighting disinformation and promoting transparency through fact-checking and data journalism techniques.

🇹🇿 Jamii Media is a media and digital technology-for-development company. They help NGOs in Tanzania to develop fundraising strategies and map potential donors.

🇬🇧 Public Media Alliance is the largest global association of public media organisations, with a mission to support and advocate for the values of independent public service media.

🇬🇧 Rory Peck Trust provides practical and financial support to freelance journalists and their families worldwide, assisting in times of crisis and helping them to work more safely and professionally.

🇸🇬 Splice Media focuses on building new media products, growing audiences, building communities, streamlining workflows and operations, mapping the media landscape, and training modern news teams and creators.

🇬🇧 Thomson Reuters Foundation combines the power of journalism and the law to advance media freedom, foster more inclusive economies, and promote human rights.

GFMD's new affiliate members:

🇧🇷 Agencia Mural de Jornalismo das Peripheries has a mission is to minimize information gaps and contribute to the deconstruction of stereotypes about the outskirts of Greater São Paulo.

Alhudood Network is a satirical news website in the Middle East pioneering self-sustaining financial models, new media formats and technical development in the media.

🇵🇾 El Surtidor run impressive journalism investigations such as releasing the data with the names and surnames of the 3,336 families that illegally benefited from land destined for agrarian reform during the Estronist dictatorship and in democracy.

🇪🇹 Ethiopia Insider is a news, analysis, features and entertainment website. They provide the latest breaking news and updates straight from Ethiopia and the surrounding region.

🇨🇴 Fundación Muitante is an independent alternative to confronting fake news, the tyrannies of clicks and scandals, and the "public agendas" created from private pockets.

🇵🇹 Fumaça is an investigative journalism podcast that focuses on inequalities and injustices.

🇳🇵 Herne Katha is a web TV series that tells video stories of ordinary people in the format of short documentaries. 

🇦🇿 Meydan TV focuses on politics, economy and social issues; and provides a platform for open and diverse discussions on all topical issues concerning Azerbaijani society.

🇧🇷 Ponte Jornalismo focuses on reporting abuses carried out by the police and other arms of the State, such as the justice system, with special attention to inequalities of race, class, and gender in public safety and human rights issues.

🇱🇧 Raseef22 addresses millions of readers in the Arabic language through an innovative approach to daily life in our world, keen to respect the local customs and traditions of the peoples of the region.
