The Back Porch
A Note from our Pastors...

Dear LFPPC Church Family,

I was unexpectedly brought to tears as I watched our own Melissa Robertson offer commendations at our first Pepitas kindergarten graduation ceremony. She highlighted each child and offered incredibly kind and loving comments about the character of each student. Sometimes we forget that ministry happens here at LFPPC every day of the week, not just Sundays. I am so grateful that God has entrusted us with 50+ children to nurture in a complicated world. I am astounded by what God can do. Pepitas took a leap of faith this year. In the midst of pandemic, they stepped out an offered to open a kindergarten class to meet the needs of the neighborhood. On the first day, only 2 were enrolled but by the end of the year, we had a full class of 11 amazing students. There is sermon here about faith and about who our God is.

I hope you will join us for worship this week as we come together to glorify this incredible God of ours. Please note our office will be closed Monday, June 20th in observance of Juneteenth (per our staff handbook on holidays).

Blessings,
Pastor Laura

(P.S. It's Pastor Andrea's birthday this week so make sure to send her some love as she celebrates the big 4-0! She will use some of her vacation time to celebrate this weekend with her family)

"Gratitude + Going Forward" Congregational Meeting - June 26

We will also hear an Interim Pastor’s Report focusing on where we are in the interim process and what to expect for the pastor nominating process going forward.

Financial Update
Thank you for your faithful giving! This past week, both Session and the Finance Committee approved a motion to hire Jitasa, a non-profit specific bookkeeping service to handle the bulk of our financial tasks. They have a long list of church clients and understand the unique aspects of ministry finance. We are still transitioning with the support of Jaime Ledger and are moving to a new model. The few tasks that Jitasa cannot cover for us will be handled by volunteers for the moment and Finance Committee will be sorting that out over the summer. Moving to this bookkeeping service will help our congregation save money going forward. You can help simplify the administration of our organization by giving online via Pushpay (https://pushpay.com/g/lakeforestparkchurch?src=hpp). This helps reduce the significant amount of cash/check handling that happens each week. If you have any questions, please reach out to Pastor Laura (laura@lfppc.org). Thank you!
Prayer + Care
Please be in prayer for the following individuals: Garry Arnold, George Dewey, Jamie Gobel, Hannah Tran, Waldher family, Kathryn Heley, Kathleen Tade, Gobel Family, Robin Gabbert. Please contact the church office at 206-364-2712 or your pastors if you have prayer requests.

The "Knitting into the Mystery" group has quite a supply of prayer shawls available. Please contact us if you know of someone going through a hard time that would enjoy receiving a hand knitted prayer shawl.
