June

A combination of factors has led to this month's newsletter coming to you very late - apologies!

This Sunday, June 26, we won't be meeting at Yarrunga. Instead, join us for a Waring season walk and BBQ at Eagle's Nest Picnic Area in the Dandenong Ranges. An update will be sent to the Signal group if plans change because of the weather.

From July 3, join us as usual at Yarrunga at 9.45am for a 10am start, or on Zoom at 10am-

Coming up in July, we'll be exploring 'work' and 'rest' as part of our focus on Waymark 3: Keep a rhythm of prayer, work and rest. We'll then move into our Inspiring Saints series.

In Kids' Church, we'll continue learning about the Fruit of the Spirit and then get to know some past and present Holy Troublemakers.

For details about social events, Monday Men's Bible Study group, how to join the ehills discussion group on Signal, how you can get involved on the Sunday roster, or anything else, please get in touch with Toli on 0438 087 206.

You can pop your name straight onto the roster here.

Notes from May

During May we continued moving through the season of Easter, leading up to the Ascension.

Father Richard Rohr "composed this prayer litany - imagining many names and movements of the Spirit - to awaken and strengthen this Presence within us." You may like to add to the list of names with some images of your own. We also brainstormed everyday prompts we can use to remind us of the Holy Spirit's continual presence with us, such as birds, fruit, taking deep breaths and making the bed!

Refugee Week

This week, June 19-25, is Refugee Week - a time to celebrate the contribution of refugees in our society, learn more about their experiences, and do something positive for refugees, asylum seekers and displaced people in Australia and around the world.

Common Grace will be sharing a series of stories, reflections and prayers throughout the week. You might also consider reading a book, watching a movie, listening to a podcast, or taking practical action through the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.

Prayer for a Just Future
by Common Grace's Justice for People Seeking Asylum Team

Creator God, you are the giver of life.

Saviour Jesus, you have shown us what it is to love.

Guiding Spirit, you awaken us to justice.

Show us how to build a just future, where all people have equal opportunity to belong and to flourish in your vitality and love.

We ask for mercy for people in limbo on temporary visas, for safety for those seeking permanent protection, for reunion for families who are separated by borders, and for relief for those losing hope within our detention systems.

We pray for First Nations Peoples fighting for justice on their own Lands, for survivors of domestic violence and for creation groaning under climate disruption.

Help us to live out your inclusive love. Help us to live into your Kingdom where all people have equal opportunity to belong and flourish. Work through us, towards a just future.
