A message to partners from Dr. Corine Karema, Interim CEO

Dear Partners,

It has been almost two months since I joined the RBM Partnership to End Malaria as Interim CEO. During that time, I prioritised meeting with as many members of the malaria community as possible. It has been an absolute honour to learn about the incredible work you are all delivering on the ground and how you are advocating for the acceleration of real progress against malaria worldwide.

I have been privileged to represent the RBM Partnership at several events, including a seminar where countries in the WHO South-East Asia Region renewed their commitments to eliminate malaria by 2030, the opening of the RBM Partnership’s 33rd meeting of the Surveillance, Monitoring, and Evaluation Reference Group (SMERG), the Rethinking Malaria Leadership webinar on how a diverse group of malaria advocates are addressing malaria as a society-wide problem and recently the first in-person Eastern Africa Regional CRSPC meeting.

Looking ahead, my most immediate focus is the forthcoming Kigali Summit on Malaria and NTDs happening in just a few days’ time. This will be a pivotal moment for our community to come together and collectively call attention to the need for more significant global investment in the fight against malaria and ensure global leaders deliver a fully replenished Global Fund in September. I am looking forward to seeing many of you there.

As we look ahead to the Global Fund Replenishment Conference and beyond, I am committed to further bolstering the Secretariat team to support partners’ ongoing efforts to end malaria.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to urge partners to continue to reach out to the RBM Partnership and to me directly to share details of your events and activities. I would welcome your ideas on how we can continue to work better, together.

I look forward to working closely with partners across the globe to take us one step closer to our vision of a malaria-free world.

Warm regards,

Dr. Corine Karema,
Interim CEO of the RBM Partnership to End Malaria
