Crime Map and Updates

Welcome to our new map. You can search by address, date range, case number, or specific crime type. The map includes serious felony crimes, vehicle prowls, thefts (except shoplifting), and arrests beginning in Nov. 2020. Notable Trends

  • Officers arrested suspects in three of the four aggravated assaults this week. The fourth case is still an open investigation. In one, a juvenile attacked a sibling, punching, choking and hitting the victim’s head on the ground. The suspect pushed a family member trying to stop the assault. In another case, the suspect choked and bit the victim and refused to let her leave. The suspect was not on scene at the time of the report, but an officer located him later. In the last case, some neighbors were having a dispute and one attacked the other with a machete.
  • One arson reported this week that is still an open investigation.
  • Only three auto thefts this week. One is still an open investigation. In another, the victim knew the suspect who failed to return her car to her. It was recovered in Olympia and charges were referred to the prosecutor. The last case was a 1993 Toyota Corolla and it was also recovered in Olympia.
  • Officers arrested suspects in two commercial burglary cases after the victims watched suspects breaking into their property on their security cameras and reported the crimes as they were happening. A third commercial burglary is still an open investigation.
  • Another outboard motor was stolen from a boat while the owners were out of town. There were 15 vehicle prowls. One is an open investigation. In another, a witness called in the prowl and got the suspect's license number. The victim's knew the suspect associated with the car. Tools were taken in two of the cases. Purses were stolen in three and bank cars were used fraudulently shortly after the prowls.

Other Items

  • City Manager Jay Burney announced that Rich Allen will serve as our permanent. He has served as Interim Chief since October 2021. There will be a Virtual Town Hall for Chief Allen to discuss his plans and answer community questions on June 28 at 6 p.m. You can read the full press release and get the link for the Town Hall here.
  • In this week’s photo, we ran with Special Olympics athletes, Thurston County Sheriff's Office, Tumwater Police and Lacey Police in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run. The run raises funds for Special Olympics Washington who is hosting their spring games this weekend. Check out their website for more info or to donate to the event.
