6/17/22 Community Update with Vice Mayor Chris Graus

View the weekly update HERE.
This Independence Day, the City of St. Pete Beach will be launching fireworks from the east end of Corey Avenue. The fireworks will begin at 9:00pm.
This is a great location for fireworks as many of our residents will be able to view from their own backyards. The same holds true for the area businesses and hotels.

Spectators are encouraged to make reservations at local restaurants or hotels for viewing, or pack a classic 4th of July picnic and enjoy the view from beautiful Horan Park.

Road Work & Maintenance Projects

St. Pete Beach 2022 Street Resurfacing Project

The City of St. Pete Beach and our contractors will be working in throughout St. Pete Beach neighborhoods to resurface the streets the beginning the week of June 13th, 2022.  This is the final phase in the 2022 reclaimed water pipe maintenance and street paving project.  See full details and map HERE.

The Florida Department of Transportation's contractor, AJ General Construction Services, Inc., will begin making improvements to SR 699 (Gulf Boulevard) from 36th to 131st avenues in Pinellas County.

See full information on the FDOT website HERE.

HURRICANE SEASON IS HERE!

The first thing we need to do during hurricane season is to take action in order to stay informed.  Make sure to sign up for city and county alerts HERE.
Fertilizer Ban

Pinellas County’s fertilizer ban runs from June 1st through September 30th.
Increased rainfall during this period can cause nitrogen and phosphorus to reach bodies of water, causing a host of environmental issues such as water quality problems, fish kills, and other harmful effects.

See a hole?  Fill it!

It's sea turtle nesting season along our coastline. Key actions to remember when you're on the sand:

Keep it Clean, Dark, Flat!

Clean - Leave nothing but footprints. Put trash or recyclables into the proper receptacle, properly dispose of food waste, and take care not to leave toys or clothes or let them escape into the water.

Dark - Mother sea turtles nest on dark beaches because it gives their hatchlings the greatest chance of survival. When the babies hatch, they follow the reflection of the night sky on the water, so artificial lighting can greatly disorient them.

Flat - Mounds of sand and holes can pose a major obstruction to sea turtles. A baby sea turtle can fall into even the smallest hole, and if they are stuck there after sunrise they are likely to die. It is not common knowledge, but sea turtles can’t walk in reverse. If a mother gets stuck, she may get exhausted and give up or lay her eggs too close to the water’s edge. Encourage kids to fill holes and knock down sand castles when it’s time to head home. (Take a video and hashtag it #cleandarkflat to encourage others to do the same!)
