About Black Owned South Florida

Black Owned South Florida was created in 2019 by Melissa Latortue to provide promotional support to Black owned businesses within the South Florida region. Melissa discovered, at the time, when searching for Black owned businesses on the internet, the results turned up empty.

This resulted in the creation of the Instagram page, @blackownedsouthfl followed by the Facebook group of the same name.

In 2021 Melissa decided to step out of just providing social media promotion and added networking and vendor events to the list, which created the Black Business Market event!

The goal is to help businesses create generation wealth for their families and future generations to come. We want to help circulate the black dollar within our community and what better way to do so than providing the Black Business Market to help do so.
