This Mayoral update mostly focuses on the campaign.  Because we had such a large Committee of the Whole the previous meeting, this one was cancelled.

The regular village board meeting was also light.  The highlight of the evening was presenting the life saving award to several lifeguards.  Their quick reaction saved the life of a 10 year old boy.  Similar to many walks of life, our lifeguards go through a lot of training that seems tedious at times.  However, its that one moment (first one I am aware of in my 6th summers as mayor) that we do it for.  I can’t say enough about the young women who actively rescued this young man and all the other young men and women who followed their training and kept the rest of the pool safe while this incident was happening.

Very few of us are faced with a moment like this and I am very proud of these lifeguards for stepping up when called upon and performing admirably.  A young man is alive today because of their actions!

Otherwise, there was little of note at the board meeting which is somewhat normal for the summer months.

FROM THE CAMPAIGN

Last weekend, yet another robocall was made that questioned my service in the Air Force and to the country.  For this reason, I have made many of records available on-line.  I am proud of my service and I had a very good career.  Flying in the F-15E was not a job, it was a calling and it was an honor to serve.  I also had the privilege of serving with the finest people America has to offer.  It is reprehensible that cowards who have never worn the uniform question that service.  Here is a link to that webpage  www.keithpekau.com/service

This is yet another reason why it is imperative to elect Cynthia Nelson Katsenes as the Republican Committeeperson and Sean Morrison for Cook County Commissioner.

Additionally, this week there was an anonymous text message spreading more false information about crime in Orland Park.  This follows the continued false statements about our police department issuing false crime statistics from one of my opponents in the primary.  A statement from Chief Rossi releasing the Annual Report from the Orland Park Police Department was made on Friday.  The statement and the annual report can be read here.  https://www.orlandpark.org/Home/Components/News/News/330/65

Early voting is underway at the Orland Township building.  Election day is June 28th.
