CORRECTION: Child safety expert available to comment on extending support for children in stated care to 21 and not child safety statistics as state in previous email.

Child safety body PeakCare is available for comment on this morning's announcement of extending support for children in state care to 21.

Executive Director Lindsay Wegener can be contacted on 0437 726 192 for interview on the Queensland Government moving to increase support for children in foster, kinship and out-of-home care.

Child protection body PeakCare and other organisations have been advocating to increase the age of care and for funding. The pre-budget announcement comes ahead of Tuesday's Queensland state budget.

Increasing the age of support will mean young adults who have been in care will be less likely to experience homelessness, unemployment, poverty and disadvantage.

Lindsay Wegener Lindsay Wegener has over 35 years of experience working in the fields of child protection and youth justice.

He has worked within non-government organisations providing residential and specialist foster care services for children and young people.
