Be Transformed
Once every three years, the worldwide Metropolitan Community Church denomination gathers for its General Conference. For the first time ever, the conference will be held entirely online. Join in a Watch Party at MCCLV from 10am-5pm on Saturday, July 2 ( feel free to stop by for an hour or stay for the entire time). Throughout the day there will be Keynote Speakers, Workshops, a virtual Exhibit Hall, and Kinship Opportunities. The day will close with a Live Synchronous Worldwide Worship Service at 4pm. THIS Sunday
This Sunday, there will be a special announcement about a Research Study on LGBTQ Inclusion in Church. The study is looking for adults (18 years or older) who identify as LGBTQ and are members of an open, welcoming, or affirming church to participate in a research study. The purpose of this study is to learn more about LGBTQ people who have found a home in a welcoming congregation, because most of the research in this area has examined LGBTQ people who have left churches due to experiences with homophobia, heterosexism, and sexual prejudice. Participation involves an online questionnaire, which includes an essay component (a spiritual autobiography). Participants will be offered a $15 honorarium for taking part. TONIGHT: Class on Discipleship
Being a disciple can be challenging, yet there is joy along the journey. Join in a class on being a disciple on social media, at the workplace and in the neighborhood. The class will be held on TONIGHT Tuesday, June 28 at 6pm online and 7pm in-person in MCCLV's Social Hall. In his Letter to the Church in Rome, Paul writes: What I don’t understand about myself is that I decide one way, but then I act another, doing things I absolutely despise. So if I can’t be trusted to figure out what is best for myself and then do it, it becomes obvious that God’s command is necessary (Romans 7:16, The Message translation).
