Cobra's Weekly Round Up

Football & Netball
Round 11

this week.

We host Bunyip in a crucial match today. Bunyip outplayed us in our first match and being one of our traditional rivals we always expect to be challenged. We also welcome our past players to the “Dome” this week in preparation for our Hall of Fame night. It will be a big day (and night) so we hope for a successful outcome. We are poised in the top six at the moment and need to maintain the momentum.

special event.
Hall of Fame celebrations this Saturday 25th June at Cranbourne Turf Club. We are looking forward to a great evening to celebrate the most successful twenty years of our club’s history. It will be a reunion of all our Premiership coaches, players and supporters who have contributed so much to make this a reality.

last week.

seniors.

The seniors took on a Warragul team placed one spot above us on the ladder so we knew we were in for a great game of footy.
We started off the game kicking the first 5 goals of the game. Some great ruck work giving our mid-field players first use out of the middle helped us get good looks at the goals. From there on the game was full of momentum swings. We kicked a few more goals just before halftime to give us a buffer at the break which was needed after Warragul Industrials kicked seven unanswered goals.

After halftime the boys showed great execution of defence and contest in which was demanded by the coaches at halftime. Some accurate goal kicking got us over the top at the end in which was a great game of local football.

Rylan Smith and Tristan Warkuss led the back line all day. Brent Urwin, Nathan Gardiner  and Jaxon Briggs were very dangerous in the front half of the ground. And Billy Thomas Jimmy Munro and Thomas Stiglich were tough in the clinches all day.

development team.

Today we welcomed Warragul Ind on a perfect winter’s day.
Warragul started well and really took it up to us with their precise kicking game our boys responded with some great defense lead by Jake Ross.

In the second term we continued to play great team football and our forwards lead by Luke Foreman and Brad Parker started to hit the scoreboard.

In the third quarter our  mid field led by Darcy Robinson and Dylan Ross started to really give us some good looks and the ultimate swing man Josh Wilson took control.

We finished the game off really well in the last quarter and it was really pleasing we played some of our best team football for the year.

Thank you to all the volunteers that give us the opportunity to play every week the ground was in great condition
