One week to the 2022 Sibiu Cycling Tour: Team Selection, Route, TV & Jersey Info


The twelfth edition of the Sibiu Cycling Tour is just one weeks away, and with 29 teams on the start list, a thrilling parcours and eight different classifications to compete for, everything is set for another exciting edition of the race. All stages will available free to watch online and broadcasted on the Digi Sport TV channel.

List of participating teams


An international field of 29 teams will take part in the 2022 Sibiu Cycling Tour, including a record number of six WorldTeams. Additionally, three ProTeams will be at the start, and no less than 18 continental teams as well as two national teams:

The 2022 Sibiu Cycling Tour parcours

The 2022 Sibiu Cycling Tour will start with a short prologue through the ASTRA National Museum Complex on Saturday, 2 July, followed by a challenging stage over the Transalpina Mountain Road, the mountain-top finish at Bâlea Lac and an uphill time trial to Păltiniș. The sprinters then get a chance to shine on the final afternoon of the race.

Eight classifications at stake


After each stage of the Sibiu Cycling Tour, four leader's jerseys are awarded to the first-placed rider in the following classifications:
  •   General Classification (sponsored by Alexandrion Group, CONA, Visma, Star Assembly & compa)
  •   King of Mountain Classification (sponsored by ESET, Bridgestone & Joyson Safety Systems)
  •   Points Classification (sponsored by Marquardt)
  •   Best Young Rider U23  (sponsored by Scandia Food, Sigemo, Polycontact & ODU)
Furthermore, there are four podium trophies with jerseys that will not be worn in the race:
  •   Points Classification (sponsored by Casa Luxemburg, AEA Medical, Geiger & Boromir)
  •   Best Romanian Rider (sponsored by CBS, DABO, Mindsoft, Bilstein, Kendrion & SOMA)
  •   Best Team Classification (sponsored by Corident)
  •   Combativity Award (sponsored by elrond, GLS. & optcycling.com & Continental)
The Combativity Trophy will be awarded by the race jury at the end of the final stage. In addition, a most aggressive rider will be crowned each day and awarded with the orange bib number to be worn on the following stage.

Live coverage for all stages

 
In cooperation with Livestream Romania, all stages of this year's Sibiu Cycling Tour will be available free to watch online. The broadcasting times (Eastern European Summer Time, UTC+3) are as follows:
  • July 1, Team Presentation: 19:30 - 21:30
  • July 2, Prologue: 16:00 - 20:45
  • July 3, Stage 1: 12:30 - 20:30
  • July 4, Stage 2: 10:30 - 17:15
  • July 5, Stage 3a: 09:30 - 13:25
  • July 5, Stage 3b: 17:00 - 21:45
The streams will be available on livestream.com, Facebook and on the website of the race, and consist of a mixed format, including a pre-race show, live pictures from each stage, as well as talk and interviews from the studio. Additionally, there will also be live coverage on the Digi Sport TV channel.
