RECOGNIZING JUNETEENTH

Happy Juneteenth!

Also known as Freedom Day, National Independence Day, Emancipation Day TX, or Black Independence Day, Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the confederate states. Although President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, violent exploitation of enslaved African Americans continued in many confederate states, including Texas. On June 19, 1865, the Union Army established authority over Texas and enforced the emancipation of slaves. The following year, the first "Juneteenth" celebration was organized to recognize freedom from slavery in the U.S.

In this
PodCASP episode, you will hear an engaging conversation between CASP Board Member and PodCASP host, Naa Ameley Garrido, and some of her closest friends and family: Dr. Nadielka 'Nadi' Bishop, Dr. Erica Foh, Dennis Mitchell, MBA, PMP, and Lamley Lawson (student at Yale University School of Medicine). Topics include how and when they first learned about Juneteenth, their efforts to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, plus some practical tips drawn from their experiences that listeners can easily implement in their workplaces.

Our guests share their personal experiences with ongoing systemic racism in medicine, law enforcement, education, and other social structures. Neurodiverse BIPOC (black, indigenous, and people of color) individuals, clinicians, administrators, and family members experience similar challenges as they attempt to access or provide quality ABA services in their communities. Enjoy, and please feel free to share your experiences and feedback at

Operational Benchmarks in Autism and Impact on Financial Performance
Tuesday, June 21, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Eastern

A small set of operational metrics can comprehensively explain financial performance for a company providing ABA services. We will review these metrics and their impact on performance. We will also review the results of an industry survey recently conducted to obtain benchmarks for these operational metrics and the implied general range of performance that currently exists in the field. Finally, we will discuss how companies can evaluate and prioritize these benchmarks to impact their bottom line.

Presenters:

Lani Fritts has been leading ABA organizations since 2009 when he founded Trumpet Behavioral Health. He subsequently founded Kadiant, and is a founding board member of CASP. He has an MBA from Stanford University.

Rohit Verma was Chief Strategy and Analytics Officer at Kadiant, and CFO at Trumpet. Previously he was at Kearney, a management consultancy, and has a Ph.D. in economics from University of Pennsylvania.

Lani and Rohit founded Bixpli this year to help ABA companies assess and improve operational performance, develop and implement growth initiatives, and prepare for and execute strategic initiatives including mergers and acquisitions.
