Rally Postponed

Tuesday’s rally at City Council is postponed for two reasons:

  • Based on the City Council agenda currently available online, A2P2 does not expect Knox Cameron’s nomination to Energy Commission to come up for a vote in the meeting.

  • Potentially unsafe extreme heat is forecasted for Tuesday, with a high of 95 degrees.

From 1971-2000, Michigan averaged eight days a year with heat indexes above 90F. That figure will rise to an average of 34 days per year by the middle of this century if action is not taken to mitigate the effects of climate change. DTE, the third-most carbon intensive major utility in the country, continues to be a substantial contributor to these rising temperatures.

A2P2 supporters will instead attend the council meeting inside City Hall at 7pm to urge City Council to keep DTE employees out of city government.

We do not know if this appointment will be rescheduled for the following city council meeting or not yet. If this appointment ends up on the city council agenda again we plan to hold this rally then. Please stay tuned in for details, we appreciate your understanding and support!
