Sunday, June 26, 2022 at 2 pm To be held at Crown Hill’s “Final Finish Line”
Crown Hill Heritage Foundation & the Indiana Racing Memorial Association (IRMA) invite you to join us on Sunday, June 26 at 2 pm as we celebrate the many men and women resting at Crown Hill who have helped to make Indianapolis the racing capital of the world!
Featured speakers include J. Douglas Boles, President of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation, and Jake Query, Veteran of Indiana Sports Radio and Co-host of “The Fan” Radio Show.

We will introduce our interactive Racing Legends Tour App, with audio recordings made by the legendary Donald Davidson & Bob Jenkins. This interactive tour app will allow users to select one or more of 61 Racing Legends included in the app and navigate to each grave site or crypt using Google Maps with the pre-loaded GPS coordinates in the app. Each entry includes photos, a bio sketch, and approximately a third of the stops include an audio recording made by IMS Historian Donald Davidson and the former legendary “Voice of the 500,” Bob Jenkins, who sadly died of brain cancer in 2021 and is buried up the hill from the Final Finish Line and near Speedway Co-founder Carl G. Fisher.
(Listen to a Sample Tour Recording made by IMS Historian Donald Davidson about Speedway Co-founder Carl G. Fisher.)
This event will also highlight the installed custom-made stainless-steel Racing Legends Tour Medallions that mark the tour stops on Crown Hill’s Racing Legends Tour.
Following the ceremony, guests can take a five-stop guided walking tour to try out the interactive Racing Legends Tour App.
Special Cars on Display! There will be three special racers on display at the event, including IMS Co-Founder Carl G. Fisher’s 1905 Premier Racer, compliments of the IMS Museum! Jason VanSickle from the IMS Museum features this special car in a YouTube video. The second car on display will be an award-winning replica of Parnelli Jones 1963 Indianapolis 500-winning car, and the third is an original 1930s-era Miller track racer.

A Celebration of Racing & Automotive Legends is the culmination of a multi-year project and partnership with IRMA. Prior years have seen the installation of IRMA’s “Crown Hill Racing Legends” historic sign, dedicated in 2017; the “Final Finish Line” yard of bricks, dedicated in 2018; the “Racing Legends Tour Medallions,” introduced in 2019; and in 2022 (after a hiatus for Covid-19), the interactive Racing Legends Tour App with audio recordings will be released.
This event will be held at the "Final Finish Line," on the east side of Sec. 13 (follow the white line painted on the road from either gate) to the coned-off area. No registration is necessary for this free event, and parking is plentiful. Chairs will be provided or bring your own. Refreshments served.
