Dear Friends,

KNITTED HEARTS
Some months ago we launched an initiative where a number of St Martin's folk were knitting pairs of hearts for our local funeral arrangers to give to members of the community who have lost a loved one.  These have proved popular and we have received messages of thanks as well as recognition from Loss and Hope, a coalition of Christian organisations seeking to equip the Church to support those bereaved. We are in need of more hearts and if you are able to knit please download the leaflet by clicking HERE.

DONATIONS FOR REFUGEES
A number of parishioners have asked if they can help support those refugees and folk seeking asylum currently living in the village.  One way of doing this would be to make a donation to the Rector's Discretionary Fund and I will make sure that it is used appropriately.  If you would like to make a donation please click HERE.

FOODBANK
Please remember that the Foodbank is relying on our generosity to continue providing food to those in our village in need.  The cost of living crisis is impacting local families, and bringing new clients to our distribution centre for our help. Our stocks are starting to run low. The Foodbank is in need of UHT Fruit juice 1L (preferably apple or orange juice), fruit squash, tinned meat, tinned vegetables, tomato ketchup, UHT Milk 1L (semi-skimmed), sweet snacks & biscuits, savoury snacks & biscuits, tinned fish, tinned spaghetti hoops, 500g sugar (small packs), tinned custard, sponge puddings, baby wipes, toilet paper, toothbrushes for kids and adults.  Please do not donate out-of-date items. Thank you for your continued support.

UKRAINE: CAKES WANTED
Please see details below of a special concert to take place at St Martin's.  During the interval, tea and cake will be served.  If you are able to bake a cake please bring it to the service in the morning or before the concert.  Please ensure that cakes do not contain nuts and provide a list of ingredients.

REVEREND DR STEVE MANGAR
Steve will be ordained priest at Guildford Cathedral on Saturday 2nd July at 10.30 am.  All are welcome to attend the service.  Steve will Preside at Holy Communion the following day (Sunday 3rd).  The 10.30 am service will be followed by a light celebratory lunch.  All welcome.

CHRISTIAN AID
A total of £564 was raised for Christian Aid this year.  Thanks to all who contributed.

PARISH OFFICE
Kate, our parish administrator, is on leave next week (and so am I).  Any urgent matters can be referred to Rev Sandy Conway (01483 281497).  Otherwise please wait until we both return next weekend.  Thank you.

Every blessing,
Renos

THE SECOND SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY

Lord, you have taught us
that all our doings without love are nothing worth:
send your Holy Spirit
and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of love,
the true bond of peace and of all virtues,
without which whoever lives is counted dead before you.
Grant this for your only Son Jesus Christ’s sake,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
AMEN
