A Message from Bob Townley |

Dear Manhattan Youth Families,
Manhattan Youth started over thirty years ago in response to a need in lower Manhattan, a need for youth and family services that would be able to support each person and each family individually and comprehensively. Our mission has always been to assist working families, regardless of the ability to afford after school childcare.
Over the past thirty years, our great work has resulted in substantial expansion, and consequently, our community has expanded as well. What once was a small and intimate community organization centered around lower Manhattan, has blossomed into a diverse and multi-layered force whose influence is felt all over Manhattan and its surrounding boroughs.
At Manhattan Youth, it is important now more than ever to acknowledge that the Black and Brown members of our community, both locally and nationwide, have been consistently discriminated against and dismissed for far too long. This is an organization that will not rest with acknowledgment of these injustices but will respond with action. We will stand against any and all racial and social injustices in our workplace, schools, community center, and beyond. We will be loud instruments of change and not silent supporters. We will own the brand of diversity by championing the unique EXPERIENCE of our students and staff. We will push the brand of diversity through ongoing and unyielding communication and EDUCATION. And we will continue to challenge the status quo by EMPOWERING all members of our community regardless of race, creed, orientation, religion, and/or ability status.
Manhattan Youth stands for equality and against racism!
