We are pleased to advise applications for the 2023 Career Starter Program open on Monday 27 June and close on Sunday 17 July 2022. The Career Starter Program is a whole of government entry-level recruitment program, coordinated by the Department of Finance, targeted at people who have completed a year 12 certificate or equivalent in 2021 or be completing one in 2022. This year the cohort is comprised of 99 Career Starters across the following agencies:
- Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet
- Department of Agriculture, Water & Environment
- Defence
- Department of Education, Skills and Employment
- Australian Public Service Commission
- The Department of The Treasury
- Department of Health
- Department of Industry, Science, Energy & Resources
- Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications
- The National Indigenous Australians Agency
- The Australian Research Council
- Services Australia
- Department of Finance.
The Career Starter Program provides participants with the opportunity to become effective and efficient public servants in a full-time ongoing position.
Career Starters commence as an APS1 and participate in a structured 11 month (February-December) training program, and receive a nationally recognised qualification, Certificate IV in Government upon successful completion.
This year we will host virtual Candidate Information Sessions via Microsoft Teams for candidates to learn more about the recruitment process, hear from current Career Starters and to ask any questions they may have.
