Dorohenki~ Dear ones,

In the midst of the returning back to ‘normal’ over here, and remembering how far from normal our friends and family are ‘over there’ (120th day of the genocidal war), we find ourselves turning from Green Holidays into the fullness of Summer Solstice.

In the midst of all this, we have quietly launched registration for summer camp and been fervently working towards making it happen. It’s about time we announced it to you in a newsletter!

Summer Camp! August 15-21, at the Plast campground, Grafton, Ontario

A full week of workshops, presentations, concerts, dances, bonfires, and time in nature to re-connect, learn & share the beauty of Ukrainian, Eastern European & other culturally rooted folk arts & skills. All ages are welcome.

Sponsoring displaced Ukrainians to attend camp:

You all know how meaningful and healing camp can be. For those families fleeing the war, we’d like to offer a place at camp.
Help make this possible:

Donate towards this initiative.

It’s been a difficult spring, and the reality of the genocide and massive refugee crisis continues.

There is so much need for aid in Ukraine,  where people are fleeing bombardment and total destruction. There are many credible effective organizations you can donate to, and volunteer with- please see link below.

We must continue to work towards good in the world, and beyond emergency situations, we work towards sustaining our ongoing wellbeing, and strengthening our community bonds. We decided to run our summer camp program again, after a two year hiatus, because there was a strong collective desire to be together again, and to continue the learning & sharing that has brought us close to each other and our ancestral roots; we believe this matters for our survival.

Now more than ever it is crucial for us to continue bringing people together to learn Ukrainian cultural traditions, to preserve and keep alive valuable aspects of the culture, and to support collective healing and resilience. We will continue to offer a diversity of culturally rooted arts and skills workshops, and to promote cross cultural dialogue, and mutual understanding.

Thank you all for supporting and contributing to our community,

May you have a wonderful summer,

Bozena Hrycyna
Director of Programming,
Summer Camp Director
