TIME TO GET THOSE BALLOTS IN!
………………………………………
Primary Election Day is Tuesday, June 28. If you haven’t mailed your ballot yet, tomorrow is the last recommended day to get them in the mail. After that, you can deliver your ballot to a dropoff location or vote in person. Check out the map of Larimer County dropoff and voting locations. Please note that some drop-off locations that exist for the general election, do not operate for the primary. We know that the Democratic primary ballot does not feature many, if any, contested races, but we are still voting our ballots. Call it practice for the general election! Familiarize yourself with ballot dropoff locations and polling places. Encourage your friends and family to vote. You can learn more about the candidates by reading the candidate profiles on our website. And if you want ballot status notifications by text message, visit the BallotTrax website and sign up!
JANUARY 6TH HEARINGS
………………………………………
In case you’ve forgotten how close we were to a crisis of the Constitution and our democracy, the House Select Committee’s hearings are a stark reminder. An audience of at least 20 million people watched the first prime-time hearing of the House Select Committee’s investigation on the January 6th insurrection and the events leading up to and following it. The hearings are organized into seven different topics around the nature, extent, intricacy, and coordination of the former president and some of his advisors to overturn the 2020 presidential elections. They resume tomorrow at 11am local time. We know that many people won’t be able to watch them live, but we encourage you to take in the news coverage or watch the recordings later. These are historic events, and it’s important for all of us to understand the extent of the illegal plot to keep Trump in office.
If you haven’t watched the hearings yet, we strongly suggest you do. You can watch the full recordings of Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3 on the Associated Press YouTube channel. It will reinvigorate your commitment to voting in elections and participating in our democracy. If you just need a quick 30 minute refresher, check out this podcast episode from the New York Times’ The Daily.
Thanks for everything you do!
