CCHS Newsletter 62 - 27th June 2022
Message from Executive Headteacher
In another step back to "normal" we have our Year 10 students out on work experience this week, combined with the return of our Cosford careers event the week after, as well as the opportunity for our new intake students to come and physically be on site for their transition day.
I'm old enough to remember the times in the dim and distant past when the last half of the summer term was always a "quiet" period with lots of winding down activities. Rightly, this has changed to ensure that the students get the most from every day they are in school before the summer break. I'm very grateful to all of the staff who have relished the opportunity to make things as close to normal as possible for our students. I know that it takes an enormous amount of work and effort at a time when batteries are pretty low on charge. I hope that our students make the most of the opportunities offered over the coming weeks.

STUDENT ABSENCE REQUESTS
Just a reminder that student absence requests from parents need to be sent to our
http://office@cc-hs.com email account with the form attached, preferably filed in, although emails with information of the leave request are accepted too. Forms are on the policies section of our website, under 'Request for Leave & Guidance Notes'.
Requests then go to Mr Harding for his decision, and a letter is then sent to parents / carers.

Thank you

Year 10 - Employability Skills Day @ Cosford
A reminder that Year 10 students will be visiting RAF Museum Cosford on Wednesday 6th July for their Mock Interview and Employability Skills Day.

All students should wear clothes suitable for an interview, not school uniform, to make the experience more realistic.  Please note that short skirts and high heels are not acceptable, they are unsuitable for interview and for some of the activities that will take place.  No trainers or hoodies should be worn.  Boys can wear school trousers with a different shirt and tie, it doesn't have to be a suit.

All students are required to take along a packed lunch and drinks to last throughout the day.  If you child is entitled to free school meals, please contact Mrs Higgins on   01902 907566         and she will arrange a packed lunch through school.

If you have any questions about the event, please contact Mrs Higgins.
Thank you for your continued support.

  • Stan S who finished 1st in the Shot
  • Noah S who finished 1st in the Triple Jump

Football Academy - Triple Winners
On 24th June the Football Academy played in the final of the U18s Staffordshire Schools County Cup.  They beat the current National School Cup Champions, Repton School, 2-1 to win their third trophy of the season, a massive accomplishment.
Both of our goals were scored by Oli B.

Well done to the whole team - fantastic job lads!
Football Academy Tournament
On 17th June, the Football Academy hosted the annual Summer Sixes football tournament on the 3G pitch for local teams across the region.  This year, with sweltering temperatures, they hosted 16 clubs in a highly competitive competition that lasted over four hours.

The eventual winners were Dudley Sports in the Silver Final, and Edwards Youth who won the Gold Final.

Over 300 people were on site and were very complimentary about the school, staff and our Football Academy Ambassadors Bobby, Dennis and Sidik.  It was a pleasure to have so many teams on site all trying their absolute best until the very end.  Lights went out about 11pm!

Parents claiming some benefits can claim free school meals for any of their children who are registered at a Staffordshire school and who would normally be at school at lunch time. School meals are a good way to ensure that your child eats well at lunchtime and you can save yourself time and money.

Even if you don't want your children to have the meals, claiming them helps their school. The more eligible parents who claim meals, the more funding the school receives.

The phone number for the free school entitlement checking service team has changed.  Should you need to contact them regarding any claims queries, their number is now 0300 111 8007  option 3, then option 2
