Dear <<First Name>>,

In the last newsletter I wrote an article describing the first piece of work that we will do in this transition - the Mission Study. The goal is for the you, the congregation, to become aware of who you are now, to see how you do and might relate to your immediate and wider communities, which has implications for the gifts, skills and abilities that are needed in the next pastors. We’ll be asking three basic questions:

  1. Who are we (now)?
  2. Who are our neighbors (now)?
  3. Who is God calling us to be in light of the first two questions?
I am delighted to announce that we have a Mission Study Team: Pam Tenn, Glen Nissan, Karen Gernand, Peter D'Souza, Grace Schulz, Mark Gerhardt and Holly Hayashida. Our co-chairs are Glen Nissan and Grace Schuz. The team met for the first time last night, and we are already at work! Our plan is to do some spade work over the summer to gather data and make plans, and then in the early fall we'll have opportunities for wide participation as we look at the big three and other questions. I will be coaching the team through this process, and we have some helpful resources from the denomination and our San Francisco Presbytery.

Please add this group to your prayer list as we the lead the congregation to seek to discern God’s path for ministry.

Blessings and light, Pastor Renée

Christian Love and Sympathies

Condolences are extended to the family of Dave Schulz, who died suddenly at  home on Sunday, June 19. Please keep Dave's family in your prayers. Service arrangements have yet to be made.

Memorial Service for John Edmonds

A memorial service for John will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church on Friday, July 8th at 2:00 pm with a reception following. This date is John's birthday, so it is fitting we will celebrate his entry into the church triumphant on that day. We invite all who cared for or were cared by John to join in the remembrances.

All Church Baseball Outing - Save the Date!

The Connections and Fellowship Ministry Team is organizing a trip to see the Giants play at Oracle Park on Sunday, July 31 at 1:05 pm. Tickets ($30) will be available to purchase in July; in the meantime, save the date!

Chage a Life Ministry (CALM)

Change a Life Ministry (CALM) provides one-time financial assistance to individuals in our community to change the trajectory of their lives. Recently the team received a request from Miranda (name changed to protect her privacy). Since she was neither a known church member nor affiliated with one of our partner groups, we arranged a Zoom meeting with her in order to better understand her situation. During this meeting, we ascertained that she was a single mother of two who lives locally and had found CALM through the Trinity website. She explained that during the initial Covid shutdown, she had lost her job as a hairdresser and that even when things started to open up, she had only been able to work part time because of the lack of child care. She had to use her credit card to pay for necessities. The team approved a grant to pay off her credit card in order to give her a fresh start now that child care is available and she is able to go back to work.

Longing for a Deeper Relationship with God and Others? Join a Small Group!

A church is only as strong as its relationships. One of the primary ways to strengthen your relationship, with God and with one another, is to be in a small group*. In small groups* we learn together, we laugh together, we cry together, and we experience the realities of life together. In short, we live out what it means to be the church, together.

If you are not currently in a small group*, we would love to help you get connected to one. Please reach out to Holly or Phil Hayashida. hbridehayashida@yahoo.com or pbridehayashida@yahoo.com.  408-569-9610 (Holly) or 650-823-4407 (Phil).
