Response to SCOTUS

A brief word from Pastor Daniel

Kindred friends,

Many of us were rocked by the Supreme Court’s decision on Friday. Our emotions are rightly running high as we process this news and its implications. I know that for many of you, this is extremely personal and extraordinarily painful on many different levels. I’m holding all of you in my prayers! If you’d find it helpful to do some theological/spiritual processing with me, let me know and we will find time to chat (dchilds@universityumc.church). If you’d prefer a female conversation partner, Minoka is also available (mgunesek@gmail.com). We love you and we’re here for you!

Kindred will continue to be a community that seeks to resist injustice and affirm the dignity of all people. As we do that, let’s stick to the way of Jesus, which compels us to pursue a more just world and which also compels us (as challenging as it can be!) to love even those who oppose us. May the love of Jesus comfort us, empower us, and guide us as we work for God’s Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.

Peace,

Pastor Daniel

Worship With Us

This week's message: The Best Thing About Being a Sinner

Religious people often condemn ‘sinners.’ But Jesus hung out with ‘sinners.’ He was drawn to them and they were drawn to him. In today’s sermon, we’ll discover why, what it means about God, and the difference it makes for our own relationship with God as we begin a new series on the 7 Deadly Sins.

Join us for in-person worship today at 10 am in the AMC Classic Durham, or watch online worship by following the link below. Take Kindred on the go by downloading the Sermon Podcast on Apple or Spotify. However you choose to join in, we are glad to be worshiping together with you!

Covid Safety Update: Masking during in-person worship is encouraged for worshipers. Childcare workers and those serving near children must remain masked, along with certain other volunteers. As always, we will continue to monitor local covid conditions and regularly consult local health officials for guidance regarding our masking policies. Contact Pastor Daniel with any questions or concerns: dchilds@universityumc.church.
