Hear From A Donor: Why Do I Donate?
"Your luxuries could help a child with their necessities" - Nick Scozzaro, MobiStream Solutions

"As a father, I often think a lot about children who, to no fault of their own, are brought into this world in unfortunate situations. I know that the distribution of wealth in our society is vastly uneven, and I want to do what I can to help vulnerable children have access to the opportunities that other children do.

When I was a kid, I grew up knowing the Larsen family, and their kindness inspired me to get involved with supporting the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Hamilton.

Early in my career, I heard an executive make mention that they only wanted to donate to charities that have the wellbeing of children in mind. That, coupled with the inspiration I carried from the Larsen family has resulted in my drive to donate and support those in need with the CCAS Hamilton.

When you think about it, it seems like such a simple concept… if we have the means… why wouldn’t we want to help children in need? I can’t think of an answer. We live in a society where we chase profit and money, and what does it say to us as a society that we wouldn’t take the opportunity to help the children struggling right in our backyard. Because that much is sadly true, there are children and families in our community struggling in ways we could never imagine and that is why the work of the CCAS Hamilton is so important.

As a donor, I know that there is a lot that our community needs to learn about the realities of child welfare, and the services that an organization like the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Hamilton provides to those who need it most and how we can help those children receive the services and supports they need.

I am proud to support an agency that respects the dignity of all people and works to put children first in all they do. As human beings, we should not be turning a blind eye to children, and we need to work to make the world a better place than we found it.

I encourage those in my network and community to do the same, and hope that others who consider donating to the CCASH think of this simple fact; your luxuries could help a child with their necessities."
