Regulatory Updates & Initiatives
|
Here are some recent developments and publications:
- Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) encourages older Canadians to learn about and watch for signs of financial abuse.
- The CSA announced that the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) and the Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada (MFDA) have approved Andrew J. Kriegler as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the new self-regulatory organization (SRO) when it is formed.
- The Joint Forum of Financial Market Regulators received early feedback regarding total cost reporting and climate change from key stakeholders representing industry associations and consumer advocates.
- The CSA released the 2022-2025 CSA Business Plan. It is focused on investor protection in an innovative financial marketplace and outlines the priorities of its members over the next three years.
- The CSA released its Achievement Highlights report summarizing progress on strategic initiatives in its 2019-2022 Business Plan.
- The CSA appointed a new Chair and Vice-Chair. Stan Magidson, Chair and CEO of the Alberta Securities Commission, was appointed as Chair of the CSA for a three-year term, effective July 1, 2022. David Cheop, Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the Manitoba Securities Commission was appointed as CSA Vice-Chair. And Grant Vingoe, CEO of the OSC, was renewed as Chair of the Policy Coordination Committee for three more years.
- IOSCO’s World Investor Week will be held October 3 to 9, 2022 with two themes: investor resilience and sustainable finance.
