Workshop: WM Funders
Monday 4th July 12 – 2pm online
Since our last meeting in March 2022, the government has announced a new £15 billion package of targeted government support to help millions of vulnerable households with the rising cost of living. With a further increase in gas prices predicted in the Autumn, increasing numbers of families and individuals are facing longer term financial crisis.
Since the government launched its additional funding to support vulnerable households and individuals with the Holiday Activity and Food Programme and the Household Support Fund in 2021, Local Authorities have received extensive funds to support food poverty, fuel schemes, children and young people’s holiday activity and digital inclusion working via local voluntary and community sector organisations and networks supporting vulnerable households and individuals such as food banks, CABX and family support services. Many of these organisations also facing loss of staff capacity and increased overhead and running costs.
At our last meeting in March 2022 we agreed to invite Turn2Us - a national charity providing practical help to people who are struggling financially to share their insights and learning.
This meeting is for:
- Funders to share funding programme priorities to vulnerable individuals and households and organisations that fund support services.
- Turn2Us to share their benefits calculator, grants search tool and common application form that vulnerable individuals, households and partner organisations can access to get financial advice and support.
- Smallwood Trust, Buttle UK and Turn2Us to share the data and evidence from their services on the state of financial exclusion and poverty in the West Midlands and what they are learning from a more collaborative targeted approach to addressing poverty
