LOCATION DATA SCOTLAND

Summer Newsletter

As we all head into the summer break, we wanted to share some of the recent activities taking place across the programme and our partner networks over the next few months.

Location Data Scotland is now 2 years old and we are excited to be working with so many innovative organisations throughout Scotland helping them build their networks and identify new opportunities. From our Directory of 80+ organisations, we are supporting individuals from across 34 regions and 23 industries.

If you haven't already done so, I would encourage you to sign up to our Directory so we can help identify opportunities and connections to support and grow your business.

We hope you all have a nice summer break over the next few months.

Geospatial Skills Survey

We are working with the University of Edinburgh and AGI Scotland to understand the skills gaps across the geospatial sector in Scotland.

Geospatial is flourishing with growing interest across a range of sectors and government.  But, can we meet the future UK demand for skilled professionals?  If this is an issue close to your chest and you want to share your thoughts, please complete the survey.

A round-table workshop involving partners, enablers, providers, potential employers will be held later this year to begin collectively addressing the challenges. The outcomes of the round table discussions will be fed back to key stakeholders.

save the dateWhat is Innovation in Geospatial?

30 August 2022, Edinburgh (TBC)

The location data landscape is producing some fantastic innovations resulting in sectoral disruption.  Household brands such as DHL, Uber and Geocaching all rely on location data to run their operations, in-car satellite navigation and Google Maps are now an essential part of everyday life, getting us from A to B.  Scotland is also becoming a leader in this area. At this event we will hear from Eolas Insight who are developing geospatial solutions to solve ecological and environmental problems and Electrek Explorer a Nature Navigation System that helps recharge and reconnect in nature by navigating through scenic routes using electric vehicles.

Join us and our partners Geovation Scotland at this face to face event where we will be exploring what we really mean by innovation in geospatial and find out what’s been happening in the sector that is truly innovative.
