South African Minister of Health, Joe Phaahla has repealed all remaining Covid restrictions with immediate effect.
-
Regulations on public gatherings have been repealed.
-
Travellers coming to South Africa were previously required to show proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test and would be subjected to an antigen test if they hadn’t complied. Those regulations have now been scrapped.
-
Regulations stipulating that people in an indoor public space, including public transport, must wear a face mask no longer apply.
The minister added that while the wearing of masks is no longer enforced by government, individual public spaces such as old age homes, schools, hospitals, hotels, restaurants etc. are still able to require any member from the public to wear a mask before entering their premises.
