New Meal Train!

This background is from Emily: "Meliszma, Nick and their daughter Ashley have been attending Brentwood since before Easter. I've known Meliszma and Nick for years because they sang in Springfield Chamber Chorus with me. Well, Meliszma is having surgery up in St Louis, June 6 and will have to stay up there a week after surgery. But once she is back in Springfield, they would appreciate a meal train. There is one caveat thought...Meliszma has celiac disease as well as some other food allergies, so she can't have any food that is prepared in someone's home because of the risk of gluten contamination. So I am thinking it would be better if people did some grocery runs for them to bring fresh fruits, pre-packaged gluten free products, or gift cards to Hy-Vee, Mama Jean's or Cafe Cusco since both of those places have staff that are specifically trained on preparing things without cross-contamination."

New Sunday School for 3rd thru 5th Grades begins June 12

Beginning Sunday, June 12, Pastor Sarah will be leading a Summer class for 3rd-5th grades from 9-9:45am. We will begin by focusing on Bible basics such as how the Bible came to be, learning the books in the Bible, authorship, facts and myth, etc. It will be up to parents to decide if they want their children who are entering these grades (22/23 school year) to attend or whether they want their kids who are leaving these grades to attend.

Sunday School series for adults resumes June 12 -- "Uppity Women of the Bible"

This series is from Living the Questions, which provides resources for progressive Christians.

It will meet in Room 10 each Sunday at 9am.

Uppity Women of the Bible is a DVD-based series featuring Hebrew Bible professor Dr. Lisa Wolfe. Combining careful scholarship with humor and fresh insights, Dr. Wolfe presents just what your group needs for lively, thoughtful discussion of Ruth, The Song of Songs, Esther and Judith.

Did You Know?

Early on Brentwood established a tradition of mission and outreach giving.  Through the years the Church has set aside giving for programs  such as Church World Service, the Christian Church of Mid-America, Council of Churches of the Ozarks, Crosslines, Family Shelter, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Literacy Council, Hospice Care of Southwest Missouri, Nino de Mexico ( a children's orphanage in Mexico where a former member, Frances Ransom worked), the Ozarks Lakes Area of the Christian Church, United Ministries in Higher Education at SMSU ( now MSU ), and Victory Mission.  In more recent years Brentwood has added other programs such as, the Kitchen, Harmony House, Eden Village, the Rainbow Connection and many others.  Members have volunteered in many of these organizations and have helped to set up shelters for folks that need a warm place to stay on a cold night.  Brentwood through the years has kept the teachings of Christ alive and well in the Ozarks, and are continuing that tradition to this day.   More to Come .......

Mark your calendars for summer VBS!

Our Trinity friends have invited us to their joint VBS with Westminster Presbyterian. Pastor Sarah will be helping during this week and she would love to see as many of our kids and family and friends as possible. The event is free.
