F-One Next Generation: The Movie

By media on Jun 09, 2022 12:50 pm

The Next Generation is back!

F-ONE’s 2022 Next Generation camp in Tarifa was nothing short of exceptional.

This first-ever wing foil edition was filled with fantastic sessions and stoke on the water, a great deal of learning and growth, and of course daily laughter and fun between our 10 groms and the coaches.

Some of our coaching staff are no strangers to F-ONE’s Next Generation camps. Originally launched in 2013, the initiative has helped kick-start the careers of more than 30 young kitesurfers. It all came full circle for Nicolas Delmas and Maxime Chabloz as they returned to their old stomping grounds.

Nicolas, a three-time Next Generation alum and now coach of the French youth national team, led this year’s camp and most training sessions. Maxime is another three-time Next Generation athlete, but also three-time kiteboarding freestyle junior World Champion and more recently winner of the skiing Freeride World Tour.

They both went on to stellar professional careers and were delighted to coach the next generation of wing foilers. They were also joined by 2021 World Freestyle Champion Titouan Galea and Mallory de la Villemarqué, GWA Wingfoil World Tour head judge.

The GROMS

10 young wing foilers from around the world aged between 12 and 17 headed to Tarifa in late February to train together, improve, and share the stoke of wing foiling.

The CAMP

For one week, they discovered what it takes to become a professional rider, with workshops and coaching sessions in an out of the water.

From conditioning to landing new tricks and attending workshops on a wide range of topics, they spent each day immersed in the universe of their favorite sport and everything that revolves around it.

They also learned about social media management and personal branding, nutrition, the rules of competition, and what a photoshoot looks like with a professional photographer.

Their GEAR

Did you know we offer wing foiling boards specifically geared at Next Generation riders?

Our ROCKET WING-S is available in 3’6 and 3’10.

The ESCAPE hydrofoil is also ideal for younger and more lightweight yet advanced riders.

What's next?

The sky is the limit for our Next Generation riders.

Make sure to check them out and cheer them on at the first leg of the GWA Wingfoil Youth World Cup in Oliva, Spain, from June 23 – 26. All of them will compete in the surf-freestyle and surf-slalom events and will again be coached by Nicolas.

Why Choose the Rocket Wing ASC?

By media on Jun 07, 2022 10:41 am

Technical Specs

The ROCKET WING ASC is virtually the most durable and accessible foil board in our range. Ideal for discovering and progressing in wing foiling, this board benefits from our state-of-the-art Air Shield Composite technology.

The ROCKET WING ASC is available in five sizes:

5’0 – 60L (with strap inserts)
5’3 – 75L (with strap inserts)
5’5 – 90L (with strap inserts)
5’10 – 110L
6’2 – 130L

All are equipped with a recessed bottom handle for easy carrying, a full pad, rail savers, and the Twin-Tracks system to connect with most foils on the market.

Shape & Sensations

The ROCKET WING ASC is your ideal and trusted partner for any session and throughout your wing foiling journey. This board provides stability from side to side, impressive responsiveness, and an easy and smooth transition into flight.

It also features a straight optimized rocker line for an easy take-off and an intuitive ride. The sharp beveled rails and double concave hull shape will help you get up and flying in no time, and you won’t be unsettled when occasionally hitting the water or during touchdowns.

Construction Process

The ROCKET WING ASC benefits from one of the most advanced molding processes in the world, which also reduces production waste and increases shape accuracy.

An Air Shield Composite board is constructed around a lightweight injected EPS core molded to our original shape. The quantity of EPS balls is computer-controlled, which leads to consistent density and no waste. Steam moves equally through all the foam and results in an EPS blank which is then ready to use in the next steps without additional processing. There is indeed no need for shaping or finishing.

Next, it is laminated with a composite made of high-strength glass fiber, epoxy resin and a shield made of a high-quality protective topsheet layer.

The EPS blank is first laid up with cloth and epoxy resin. Epoxy resin releases fewer volatile compounds than traditional resin, and its quantity is once again computer-controlled so nothing is wasted. Afterwards, the multi-axial cloth is cut to size and wrapped around the blank, and its excess is recycled.

The extra durable topsheet with graphics is then added to the deck and bottom. It is a tough and extremely reliable material also used in the construction of our twin tip boards, as well as in most skis and snowboards on the market.

Finally, the board is pressed in a second aluminum mold specific to the model and size. The graphic sheet is trimmed off, with its excess recycled, the edges are sanded smooth, and the rails are painted before we glue on the full foam pad.

Advantages

Thanks to its advanced construction, the ROCKET WING ASC board is as durable as it gets but is a bit heavier than a ROCKET WING. This is due to the transparent topsheet that brings strength and makes the boards incredibly tough to anything. No matter how many dings, bumps or falls you suffer on the board, it will handle it.

In short why should you choose our ROCKET WING ASC?

You will not find a board more durable.
You will enjoy an outstanding and specific shape akin to the ROCKET WING’s.
You can trust it throughout your wing foiling journey.
You will experience all the benefits from our superior ASC construction process.

F-One Podiums at the Maui Kite & Wing Fest

By media on Jun 07, 2022 10:34 am

What a weekend at the Maui Kite & Wing Fest! Staged at Kanaha Beach Park, kiteboarding and wing foiling athletes from around the world showed up to show off in the warm and windy waters of Maui. This was the first year that wing foiling has been included in the event and riders turned up in numbers to demonstrate the advanced progression in this fledgling sport in such a short period of time.

With the first few days on the lighter side, F-One's Chris MacDonald stepped up to the top of the podium and finished 1st in Men's Wing Freestyle and 2nd in Men's Wing Racing.

Chris also entered the Woo Wing Big Air Challenge and took 1st place with a 7.5m jump on his 4.0 Strike V2.

In between manning the demo booth and showing off the latest gear from F-One/Manera, Billy Ackerman hit the water and tied for 7th/8th place in Men's Wing Racing.

The event also included a raffle and this couple couldn't be more stoked to have won a new 5'4 Rocket Wing board.

With 2022 in the books and a few podiums under his belt, below, a very stoked Chris MacDonald throws a peace sign from the F-One/Manera booth. Once again, the Maui gathering proved to be an exciting and inclusive event for wind sports enthusiasts that demonstrates the growth of wing foiling alongside the roots of Hawaiian kiteboarding. Looking back on warm water, good conditions and tons of smiles, we look forward to the next Maui Kite and Wing Fest!
