Workshop Completed in Spite of Covid-19
|
|
|
Intern Dale Brown and I traveled to Guatemala earlier this week to teach Timothy Two's Workshop 3 with pastors and ministry leaders in Vllla Canales.
I taught all the lessons on the first day of the workshop to demonstrate to Dale our teaching method. But on the morning of the second day I began to experience flu-like or Covid-like symptoms. So after teaching the first lesson, I turned things over to Dale for the rest of the day and stayed away from the group.
After returning to the hotel that afternoon I took a Covid test, and unfortunately, it came up positive. I had hoped it was just the flu, so I felt disappointed that I would not be able return to teach the group anymore on this trip. But I also felt encouraged knowing that Dale could finish the workshop on the final day. And that's what he did yesterday. Praise the Lord for scheduling an intern to go with me at just the right time!

I was scheduled to return home today, Saturday, June 11. But because of the Covid diagnosis, my return will be delayed. I need to quarantine some period of time before flying, but am not exactly sure how long yet. Fortunately, I'm staying a local hotel where I can get food and water, and the hotel is near to where my interpreter lives so he can provide anything else I need.
I'm now in the third day since the symptoms began, and they are mostly mild during the day. The past two nights, though, I've experienced chills and fever and a sore throat, but no problems breathing. I started taking a variety of recommended over the counter treatments last evening that should help minimize the symptoms. Obviously, I feel well enough to write to you today, and overall, I'm doing okay.
Finally, I would appreciate your prayers for a speedy recovery, a soon departure, and peace of mind for Beth as she waits at home.
