June 2022 Newsletter

Hi Everyone! We are continuing to build momentum post covid and have been having a lot of fun activities. We expect more to come soon with our pace increasing month by month as we get our fins back in the water.
We hope you all will reengage with us to keep this momentum so that we can bring peace to our communities through diving and other volunteer efforts. Please don't be shy, and reach out to us with opportunities for engagement. Also, please help us by sharing our content on social media and inviting your friends and family!
Past Events (since last Newsletter):
Since our last newsletter we have had two members meetings, hired Magic Lamp Consulting, and completed our biggest annual fundraiser. Details as follows:
1) Winging It For Diving
Thanks to all of you, our donors, and our sponsors, Winging It For Diving was an incredible success! We cannot express enough how grateful we all are for all of your contributions. We are able to make our programs and goals a reality because of all of you. So thank you again so much for powering this organization, and having a ton of fun while doing it! 2) 2022 Members Meetings 1 and 2
Our first two Members Meetings of the year were conducted with BBQs at East Coast Divers. As we are just recovering from Covid, the turnouts were smaller, but they were a ton of fun! Thank you so much to everyone who came. More of these are coming throughout the year, so please attend and have some fun with us! They are a great way to get the latest news, get involved, help steer the organization, and also meet new people to have fun with!
3) Magic Lamp Consulting
This year, and as announced at Winging It, we have elected to engage with a professional consulting firm to assist in our growth, outreach, and grant applications. Through this consulting, we strive to increase our annual budget, and thus increase our training and community activities. More news to come soon, but we hope you will notice our transformation and growth!
Coming Events:
Third 2022 Members Meeting (August 12th at ECD):
The third members meeting of the year will be hosted at ECD starting at 1830 and ending at 2000. There will be burgers, vegi burgers, hotdogs, and some fun snacks and appetizers provided. This event is free, so we hope to see you all there for some fun, food, and socializing! More details are on the Facebook event page located here: https://fb.me/e/2lQfdbjbb

Summer TRP Dives with BBQ (August 27th and Sept 10):
We will be hosting some awesome fun dives this summer with shore support for some good photos and great BBQ! Dates are proposed as August 27th and Sept 10 (weather permitting, will shift a day or weekend as needed). The Facebook event links are below. If you need equipment, be sure to rent it ahead of time from East Coast Divers. Since you are a TRP member you can use the discount code "THETRP" to receive a 10% discount on your rental at checkout.
Refresher Course:
This one is not yet scheduled, however we feel that this is a vital training opportunity post covid as many folks may not have gotten dive time through the pandemic. This event is not yet scheduled as we would like to first gauge interest for determining how many classes and of what size is needed to serve the community. Please email us at info@thetrp.org with the subject "Refresher Course" to let us know that you are interested. Please pass the word along to your friends and family too! We would like to schedule this ASAP, so please don't delay in expressing your interest!!
Try Scuba:
This event was cancelled due to insufficient signups. We will reschedule this soon. Please keep a lookout for the next posting/email, and share with your friends (as the people on these distros are mostly already divers....so we need your help to get the word out!).
Rock Climbing (Date Pending):
Reschedule is still pending. Board is working event and training expansions planning for the year. Once decided, an email and social media posting will follow.

1) Resource Website
One of our awesome members, Keri Yonika, has put together a website as part of a project. This website is a great consolidated information center for finding local (Boston area) veteran resources. This website is also a reflection of the survey that you, our community, filled out and expressed interest in at our first members meeting! 2) Challenge Coins!
We have had many requests for Challenge Coins, so we got some made up for the community! They made their debut at Winging It For Diving, and will soon be available for purchase on the website as well! So please keep a look out on the website for the Challenge Coins. In the mean time, you can also pick one up in person at East Coast Divers.
 
3) Donated Gear
We will soon be working through our donated gear inventory for QC check and photo inventory, so that we can get the donated gear to community members that need it. If you are interested in assisting in this inventory effort, please email us at info@thetrp.org with the subject line "Donated Gear". Targeting mid to late July to perform and complete the effort.
