This is a busy week!
As schools prepare for exhibitions or just for the end of the school year, there is a lot going on. This week is also the last HTH Board Meeting of the year. With one more bargaining session this school year, this is our last chance for a while to directly urge the board to move forward on our collective priorities.
After the last few sessions, we are finally making progress, and it does feel like we are close to an agreement! The CMO made some big concessions at our last bargaining session. We're getting closer to a fair salary proposal, and reaching agreements on many other items. The big sticking point is currently employment status, discipline, and dismissal. Educators are asking for stable schools for their students, their families, and themselves, without the constant threat of being fired without warning and without reason.
We have been trying to convince the CMO that stable schools matter to our schools. With few days left in the school year and one more bargaining date on the calendar, we need to mobilize staff and parents to sign up to speak at the June 15 board meeting so that we can get movement on that issue, with an eye on settling a contract before the end of the month.
For those who cannot attend the meeting to share, or who do not feel comfortable sharing with your name (because we are still at-will employees, after all!) please send us your written or video testimonials to share out! Here are some examples.
